I finally used the N1 in person and I was not blown away at all comparing it to my Hero...I know it is a better phone, but finally using it helped me decide to definitely wait to see the EVO even if it is released 2 months after the N1. I can honestly say that I don't really know much about the HTC EVO 4G. I do know that the monster of a screen will definitely lead me to getting a contract with Sprint just for that phone.

Well maybe not, but I definitely want to get my hands on one to try out.

I say it already topped the nexus one. I was so gung ho for the nexus one and I have tmobile. But in October I am signing up with sprint. The evo4g is the hottness!

Lol. I'm definitely signing up with Sprint too. I'm also going to keep Tmo. I'm greedy and want as many great phones as possible. I guess I'm weird like that

Not sure what you're talking about when you say "TOP" is it in sales, features or performance?

Anyways, I'm already up for upgrade/extension from my current carrier and is dying to just extend my contract with them and get the HD2 or just get the N1. But I'm willing to wait this summer and see how much Sprint will sell the phone, if it's too high for me, I'm definitely going to go with either the HD2 or Nexus One.

how do you know you wont' have same reaction to the EVO (in comparison to your Hero)? what did you not like about the Nexus? Lack of Sense UI? that can be fixed (i'm running the Desire Sense UI ROM on my Nexus... transforms the phone really )...

i'm not bashing you... just saying don't expect too much out of the EVO - as you might experience the same dissappointment... the Hero was a great phone to start off with... Sense is Sense... EVO will physically just have the larger screen... performance wise, same processor as the Nexus... and with 4G added... which in itself, isn't something that's easy to gauge, especially if you compare it to using WiFi - ie probably similar data speed experience to WiFi....

Top it in what way? In sales? Probably. They didn't really advertise the Nexus and it seems more along the lines of previous dev models albeit with more customization for different carriers. In specs? It's similar so I think a lot of it will come down to whether or not people want to use 4G or prefer a larger TFT or a slightly smaller AMOLED.

I realize they share the same processor that is why I said 4g and 4.3 are going to probably be the deciding factors. Also, I tried to make it clear that I definitely see the N1 being an upgrade to the Hero, that is not a doubt in mind.

I still think of the Legend as the Hero update. It's that lower end but still capable phone with a similar form factor. Nexus is almost outside the marketing lineup of these carriers.

You need to remember the one thing that will make the Nexus stand out the most. Instant updates! Will the EVO will be kicking around with Android 2.1 for a year maybe more. Nexus users will have the latest and greatest Android OS. This is what sold me on the Nexus. Does the EVO beat the Nexus on hardware yes with 1gb storage, 8MP camera, and can't forget that big beautiful screen. But let us not forget the iPhone is out matched as far as hardware is concerned and still is selling in vast numbers. Why is this? The software. The experience is great on an iPhone. And when Apple releases and update it gets it. iPhone users dont have to wait for the manufacturers of the phone to create the custom ROMs(ask a Moment or Hero user) or root their phone to get the latest and greatest. They just get it. This is the type of experience Nexus users will get except it will be better because it is Android!! The Nexus may get beat by power and there will be other phones with the same OS. But if you want one phone that will remain great for a long time get a Nexus. If you want to be envious of people who are using the coolest new features on the android platform get any other android phone.

Another good point. Only problem with that is having the posibility of bricking the phone.

although rooting may* void the warranty


* - some Nexus users have reported still getting rooted/unlocked bootloader devices replaced under warranty... so ??

less likely that would happen if a carrier is involved I would imagine...

That is a great post you have there.But since I do not mind rooting my phone I should have no problem when I get the evo

Guess you haven't heard that Google is going to stop fragmenting Android from 2.2 on.

So all Android devices will be getting updates at the same time I believe.

so that basically means we ALL have to WAIT for the next update...


* Google should stipulate that the fragmentation does not apply to vzw... as they frickin take FOREVER to release any updates... example being 2.1 for the Droid, or whatever latest BB OS they (vzw) are releasing... they just CAN'T release ANYTHING in a timely manner... if we have to wait for vzw before we all get udpates for our Android devices, we may as well just ship to Windows 7 ... LOL

thanksfully, again... rooting will ensure that fragmentation is alive and well... and that's fine by me... i like having updates before the masses...
