Radio Interface Resource Shortage FIX

After seeing your post I manually checked for the HTC update. However, the description of the update seems more security related and not signal related. I still see the "jumpy" signal after the update. Only time will tell if this update fixes any shortage errors.

This is the order I updated my phone doboy, don't know if it makes a difference.
I first downloaded and installed the update, then the prl and then the update profile, after I completed those 3 things I rebooted my phone, I haven't had a problem since.

did everything except for the reboot. I only get the shortage error once every few days so I'm not the best one to judge whether it was fixed or not.:p

I installed this OTA update today on an s-off, unlocked and rooted stock Evo V. This update does not flash any radios or anything like that, it just updates the Personalization app which has a lot of settings for Sense. Here is the url for the ~1Mb APK it downloads.

http://apu-liveimage.htc.com/apu/Shooter_HomePersonalize_sighned.apk-FI-12271.apk

Someone beast with java can run this thru dex2jar to try to see what changed. I also have a tcpdump and mirror of the apk and logcat if anyone needs it.

I forgot to tell about my service. I never used to be able to send sms while on wifi. I never used to be able to send more than a couple txts in rapid succession. Both of these issues appear to be resolved with this update. The signal still fluctuates slightly but I am in a low service area.

EDIT: I must have just been lucky yesterday, the same signal errors back this morning. Should have tested more before I posted.

That was the problem that we have been trying to solve. It seems this OTA does indeed fix these issues. Something else had to be installed with that OTA other than just Personalization.

I was getting this error message while texting, the radio interface one...and I kind of shrugged it off, and while downloading my usual apps. I downloaded "Juice defender" as it does something with the internal radio to save battery life, I have not have the issue in almost 24 hours, and not once since downloading the app.

I had seen another posting about "Juice Defender" and how it helped with this radio interface error. I have been using it for about 3 weeks now, and I would agree that it helps, but it is not a fix all solution. I will still receive the error sometimes even though I have "Juice Defender" app installed.
The reason that it might help, is that it completely turns off different radios to conserve power and re-enables them at specific time intervals. It is probably this toggling that may help.

I just got an OTA update and the signal no longer jumps up and down and the error message has vanished as well, hopefully this will be the end of our problems.
The update says it's for Personalization though, nothing mentioned about other fixes?

Quick reminder ppl , unless you're 100 % stock, including recovery. Do not install ANY ota to your phone. Probably won't permabrick but guaranteed to get annoying boot loops.
This is just for ROMs, right? Can you still install OTAs if you're rooted but on stock?

Most ota's won't install without having stock recovery. I have never attempted receiving one if I was rooted because within a day they are available from a dev as a stand alone file so why take the chance? When Virgin finally updated the Intercept numerous people ran into issues because they were on CWM recovery instead of stock.

Since I haven't flashed any ROMs and am still on stock, I installed the HTC update. I do still have root access. If they released an OTA with an update to something like the radio, I would wait to see if that would remove root or not. I'm not sure that this HTC update implemented any major changes.

I must apologize to the entire group, after a few days the phone started to misbehave as it had before, I guess the phone worked properly from rebooting and not from the OTA update. The only good thing from this is that they are sending me a new phone and not a refurbished one (I told the CS rep that if they sent me a refurbished phone, I would send it right back to them). I will let the group know if anything is different with the new phone.

Unlikely but do keep us informed. Software seems to be the issue.
