Android Media Player for Museums

I am looking for a solution that would help my museum and other museums to lower their media player costs. I bought a MK802 micro-PC to let it play movies on screens in our museum (it is about $75). Most professional media players cost about 250 dollars or more. So for me it is worth the investigation. But the thing is what do the professional players do that I have not found out to let it work on my android micro-pc.

1. With power on the media player automatically starts playing the movies on the disk
2. The movies automatically loop flawlessly (you don't see any controls in the screen and a very short interruption)

So what I am looking for is an app or a workaround the let the android PC do both things mentioned above. If auto start up is not easy to manage, then I am still very curious to know what would be the best media player for looping movies.

BTW I have searched for digital signage apps but they are all from some service provider with subscriptions that I don

I have no idea how the MK802 even works, but an Android app that has an option for looping videos upon completion of playback is MX Player Pro

MX Player can loop the videos properly (it restarts the videos almost immediately after it ends). Not sure about automatically starting the video though. I tried using an autostarting program but all it does is launch the player, since it apparently doesn't remember playing the video after launch.

In some ways, I think this is something that might require getting a specialized app for, since your use, while legitimate, is a very small niche. Launching a video that loops infinitely after boot isn't impossible, however I think you will need an app designed for this task.

I am so out of it today.

Anyhow, I figured out the OP's problem.

Make sure to set the MX Player as the default video player and enable loop playback. Then, if necessary, disable the lockscreen so it goes straight to the launcher on boot. Then you will need to buy an app called "Tasker". Its 6.50 USD but that's far cheaper than your professional player. And we will need it to automatically launch the video you need on boot.

Anyhow, create a new profile using the plus sign. Give it a name if you wish. Select "Event". Then "System". Then "Device Boot". Then hit the check mark to accept. Then create a new task. Click the blue plus sign. Then click "File". Then "Open File". Then click the search glass to browse to the video you want to play. Then hit the check marks to confirm the changes.

If everything went well, you should be able to reboot the system, and on reboot, the video should start playing automatically within a few seconds or so. If it asks what player to use, select MX Player and always use this option so it doesn't ask again.

I just tried this on my phone and it seems to work pretty well.

I have heard of it. But I seriously bought it just to figure out if it worked just for the OP.

Then, I started playing around with the program, and realized that "wow, this could really be useful". Set it to disable data and set the phone to vibrate during my work hours. MASSIVE increase in battery life. I seriously lost maybe 20% of battery over the period of 9 hours (for the LTE Nexus, that is actually very good). And it toggles it automagically.

I'm interested in what other uses I can find for it.
