Help Link2SD Help

Hi Everyone,
I am posting this topic since I am not able to understand the functionality of "Link2SD" app, which I heard can be used for increasing internal memory.
I am explaining each step that I performed without any success

1. I rooted my phone

2. With "clockworkmod" app I did partion of my 8 Gb SD Card into 2 halves(6&2)to be precise, thinking my device will show 2gb as internal memory Now that 2 gb space is shown as sd-ext2 on my device.

3. I tried to use that space by linking my app Dex and Lib files to that space but whenever I do so my internal memory space get reduce.
Can anyone tell me what's that space used for and how on earth I am not able to use that space.

Hi,

You have to create 3 partitions on your SD Card, if you flashed CM7.2 or CM9.
1. Ist partition FAT32
2. 2nd Partition Ext2 or Ext3 or Ext4.
3. 3rd Partition Linux Swap.

It is recommended that you create or modify your partitions by using MiniTool Partition Wizard-Home Edition. So that your SD Card contents will not be erased.

For more details, just refer this thread:

which will guide you to install Link2sd on your SD card properly

Hi
I want to tell you somethings

1. I don't have CM9 or CM7.2, I am using stock gingerbread 2.3.5

2. On my device Link2sd shows me three storage areas
a. Internal(/data)
b. SD card(mnt/sdcard)
c. SD card 2nd part(data/sdext2)

3. I have done Linux swap too, with 64mb

Now are u able to find my problem?

I think Linux Swap is not required for Gingerbread 2.3.5
Make your 1st partition (may around 7GB) FAT32 File system.
Make your 2nd partition Ext2 (around 1GB). Ext4 will not get mounted on GB. It's enough!!

Mini Tool Partition Wizard is more reliable than any other methods.
Now place your SD card and Install Link2sd (If you have already, uninstall it).

Now it will mount SD Card properly. Make 'Auto Link' on settings of Link2sd.
For existing apps just create link for application, Dalvik-cache and Lib files one by one.
DO NOT MOVE THE APPS TO SD CARD, IT WON'T GIVE FREE SPACE !!

Help - whenever I reboot the phone (either restart or remove battery), Link2SD seems to start too late in the boot process, so that the phone runs out of memory before Link2SD can perform its magic. I can only work around this by relinking all application files, library files, etc. (after many rounds of force closing apps due to low memory). Is this a common problem? Might I have not configured Link2SD or the 2nd partition (Ext2) properly to cause this? Any recommendations?

I haven't had that problem and I don't think it's supposed to happen. I would try the following:
1) Try to remount the ext you've created again and relink all apps
If that doesn't work
2)Try backing up everything with Titanium backup, and reset Link2SD, meanig format your SD card, create a ext partition and link again.

A very basic question prior to formatting my SD card and starting over:

Once I backup everything with Titanium and then format the SD card, how do I reinstall both Titanium Backup and Link2SD, since Google Play will still show those apps as installed on my device and won't let me install them?

Is the following the right sequence (if not, please advise how I should do this in the right sequence)?

1. Backup with Titanium and copy backup to PC
2. Uninstall Titanium
3. Uninstall Link2SD
4. Format and repartition SD card
5. Install Link2SD from Google Play
6. Install Titamium from Google Play
7. Copy backup from PC to phone
8. Restore with Titanium (will Link2SD automatically link apps during restore)?

Hmmm I don't think it's necessary to uninstal Titanium back-up.....I would say just make sure it's not linked to the SD card by Link2SD (Oh and make sure google play store is also not linked)
You will only be formatting the SD card, not the phone. So I'm guessing there's no need to delete Titanium.
And with Titanium, you would have the link2sd backup so no need to install it from google play :)
