Hi all,

I need your expert help in solving my "kies problem".
I got a Galaxy Ace a few months ago. I installed the kies bundled software from the CD onto my laptop (make LG, OS: Vista Home Premium).

The software didn't install correctly and since then my laptop is unusable.
It boots into Vista, and then after I log in, it hangs. I have had the following results:

1. after booting into Vista normally, and logging in, it hangs after 1-2 minutes. Sometimes it gives me a "(some Kies) dll is missing" message and then proceeds to reboot.
2. sometimes instead of hanging, it reboots
3. trying to uninstall kies causes the PC to reboot abruptly in between. It never gets uninstalled.
4. using the "Kies removal tool" from Samsung makes no difference. Kies is still there.
5. trying to update to a new version of kies asks me to uninstall the old one and then step 3 is repeated.
6. booting into XP (I have set up dual boot), does not have any problem. Kies is not installed there.
7. I have tried system restore, and all possible methods suggested on the Internet with no luck.
8. The problems 1 to 5 persist even when I boot into safe mode.

Please note:
- I am certain that the problem started after I installed Kies.
- Vista OS is unusable. I need to boot into Vista as it is my primary OS on this laptop. The XP OS is fine and no problem in using it.
- I am not interested in connecting to my phone using this laptop. I just want to get rid of Kies completely from this laptop.
- I do not want to reinstall Vista. I just want to continue from the part before I installed kies.
- I am able to boot into recovery mode, safe mode, etc

Can someone suggest a manual way to remove Kies? I can boot into XP and access the Vista drive, so this method is the most preferred one.

Kies is the WORST piece of software cr*p to be ever written. If only I could get my hands on the programmers who wrote it... !@$#^#%&#$^#

I mean how can such a big (and reputed?) company come up with such a crap piece of shit software. What a joke!!!

do you have access to vista partition from XP?
if you have you can try deleting the Samsung folder in Programs, that should fix the problem if Kies is causing it.
if you don't have access with XP then try running a linux OS live cd or usb like Ubuntu, no need to install, just choose run without install from cd or usb pen drive.

You can remove KIES by going into 'Safe Mode' & uninstalling it. To do that you will have to press F3, F8 while your laptop (this depends on the Manufacturer, it could be mentioned in the user manual) is booting which will then show you a menu whee you can choose this mode or you could even choose 'Last Known Good Configuration ' option

BTW Vista is a pain in the back, I know as my bro has it on his laptop. Is your OS up to date? KIES needs .Net 4 & tries to download it while installing if its not on the machine. Frankly KIES is a crappy s/w & is needed only for updating the firmware for all other functions I use MyPhoneExplorer http://www.fjsoft.at/en/

did u manage to find a way to manually uninstall kies - my pc wont boot either after installing it and in safe mode it fails when trying to uninstall it - im well stuck - kies is the biggest lump of sh*t going...

No I have not managed to remove kies. The reasons I could not remove it is I don't have enough time to try any other options. I have already wasted about 200+ hours in the past trying to get rid of this crap.. but it refuses to leave. Short of reinstalling windows, I have tried everything else. Right now the laptop is catching dust (thanks to Samsung). Don't have the time and energy to reinstall. Hoping that in the future I will find a few weeks of free time to devote on removing this crap.

Do share your method if you are successful.

I managed to get rid of the dire Samsung Kies - I booted Windows 7 in safe mode with Networking - went to Control Panel, Recovery, Open System Restore, and first option to restore to was just before i installed Samung Kies - Windows 7 obviously realised what a load of shite this application is and backed everything up for me !

Before that i had tried everything, unistallers from Samsung, third parties etc - none of them worked.

Good luck getting rid of this awful app on your pc.
