Help Charging and 4g/wifi issues

These are actually two separate problems affecting my wife's phone and want to see if anyone else has experienced them also.

First, when connecting to our home wifi, the phone will activate the wifi but remain in 4g mode. Both icons are displayed and I can't tell if they are both being used simultaneously or not.

Second, occasionally when plugging the phone in to charge, the phone will simply shut down. I don't believe this should be happening since her batter is usually between 20% and 30%. She is using the OEM charger plugged into a wall outlet so that shouldn't be an issue. I have the same phone and have used her charging cord without a problem.

Unless someone can give me a good reason for these issues occurring, I plan on taking the phone back to Verizon for answers and hopefully an exchange.

Sometimes my phone shows both wifi and 3g or 4g icons, just a harmless issue can be handled by a restart or toggle airplane mode.

The shut down is something i've not heard before, does it do that with all or a specific charger?

I had her restart the phone and it didn't fix the dual connection method. It finally cleared itself after about 30 min.

She has only attempted to charge the phone using either one of our two OEM cords. It doesn't seem to matter which cord is used.

Generally, you should only see both wifi and '4g' if you're sending mms, so that could be an issue.

I'd first ask if you're using an app that controls your data like green Power or juice defender.

There are no power apps on her phone. I was going to install one until these issues started. I wanted to correct these issues first.

She wasn't sending any messages during this time. The phone was sitting idle (or as close to idle as a smartphone can get).

it shouldn't be rebooting when she plugs it in. Mine never ever has. however, have you tried her OEM cable and OEM charger? :) It might be defective, and it might be putting out too much voltage, and the device might be shutting down to protect itself.

The 4G/WiFi behavior is wierd.

The phone has been plugged into her OEM cable and to my OEM cable. We have the same phone purchased at the same time. My phone doesn't have the same issues and we interchange cables frequently.

Yeah - didn't I mention OEM cable and OEM charger? Are you using the same OEM charger? One more time, the OEM charger could be putting out too much voltage.

Does it reboot when she plugs into a USB port on a computer?
