Hello,

I have had the Eris for 3 days now and I mostly get the hang of it. I'm running 2.1 (newest build).

Last night I linked all the contacts in "people" with Facebook (for people that are on FB). When I press "phone" now it lists nearly all my facebook friends. I did not add them. How did this happen? Oddly it did not do all of them. It stopped half way through the Ts. As much as I like all my "friends" there are least 200 of them I do not want listed on my "phone" list. How can I remove them from the phone list? There does not appear to be any way to delete them. When I do the "people" program they are not listed there. Is there anyway to remove these friends from the phone list and if I do will the phone try to put them back there?

Is there any way to have multiple phone numbers for the same person in favorites? I want to have my wife with her cell number and her work number there. It appears that I can only have her once in favorites with one number. It would also work if I could select which number when I pressed her button. It does not look like this is possible. Any ideas?

Thank you!

I hear ya. I called a friend that I had not spoken to since grade school by accident yesterday. While it was interesting taking to him it was a bit awkward.

I found a program on Market called Contact Remover that I thought would be perfect. It listed all the contacts and you can go down the list and check which ones you want to remove. It looked like it worked and it said done but sadly they contacts are still there. I guess it might be an issue with 2.1.

I can not believe that more people do not have issue with this. I find it very frustrating...

Anyone know of an app that can remove contacts with 2.1?

Thanks for any help.

Alot of people have this issue if you use the search feature, though i do not believe there is a solution yet.

Mine does this as well but if I need to call someone I go to people not the actual dialer, In people go to Menu>View>Uncheck Facebook.

I don't know if this will help but I went to my GMAIL account on my computer and set up different groups such as family, friends, etc. You can add any contact to any group.

Now on your phone you can select the HTC PEOPLE widget and it shows all your groups you've set up so only those people in that group show.

Is this only an issue with 2.1 or did 1.5 also have this issue?

I went to add the people widget and unfortunately I have to choose a group. I guess I could add a group that has all the non-facebook contacts...

After nearly a week I think I've found a way to remove the facebook and all other needless contacts from my People list. This includes Phone, Messaging and Search.

1) Backed up my gmail contacts just in case
2) When to People > Menu and unchecked the "Show auto Gmail Contacts"
3) Settings > Accounts and Settings > Facebook: uncheck Sync Contacts
4) I went to:
Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > People: Clear data (rolodex icon)
Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > People: Clear data (phone icon)
Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > Dialer: Clear data (phone icon)
Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > Contacts Storage: Clear data (folder sorter icon)
Setting > Applications > Manage Applications > People Widget: Clear data (phone icon)

5) Settings > Accounts and Sync > Google > Sync Now (may take a little while)

You should have a pure Google Contacts list. With only My Contacts or Contacts you have Grouped. (Still can't find a way to choose specific Groups like in 1.5)

If you turn Facebook Contact Sync back on you may have another mess. Haven't tried that yet!

Good luck.
