Note 2 vs S3 vs iPhone 5

I own the S3 and am fairly satisfied but with the upcoming release of Note 2 and the iPhone 5 I plan on gifting the S3 for free to my dad and buying either the Note 2 or iphone 5. Note 2 does have amazing features but what about the new iPhone? I'm afraid Note 2 will be awkward to carry around while the iPhone 5 is slimmer more robust and then there's the eye candy factor. Should I get the Note 2? The white iPhone is gonna be sexeh and easier to carry... Decisions decisions. Note 2 would be useful when no iPad on hands though.

Why not just get another GS3? If you're satisfied with it, why change at all? You can gift your GS3 to your dad and get another. Or get one for him.

Or wait until both the Note 2 and iPhone 5 are in the store and compare them side by side. Some carriers will even allow you to try the phone for 14 days before you're locked into the contract.

You're right. Need a side by side benchmark comparison. Nah got bored of the S3. Note 2 will be a breath of fresh air.

You're bored of the S3 (one of the fastest most customisable phones on the planet)...and you're considering an IP5? A phone which looks just like phones from 2 years ago and is completely un-customisable (ok you can change the wallpaper. Sort of) ?? Boggle!

There's no perfect phone. The best phone is the one that is best for you.

Lots of people drift back and forth between Android and an iPhone. Lots. It's no big deal.

And this is a case of liking variety. Last I heard, it's the spice of life. :)

OP, fwiw, I actually preferred the Note overall to the SGS3, so it's a good idea to compare the new Note 2 with the iP5, as you plan to, and see what floats your boat. Maybe also check out a One X while you're at it if your carrier has it. I prefer the version of that that I have over the SGS3 myself.

Android is all about choice.

Android Forums is all about respecting people's choices.

We don't have to like or even agree with other choices, but it costs nothing to respect them and it pays big in karma.

Cheers! :) ;)

I'm still happy with my nexus from December... but when my contract comes up I'll definitely be torn between the next nexus and the note 4 or whatever is around by then.

I really like the bigger screen the note offers as I don't want a separate tablet, but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to give up the Nexus flexibility.

That's my feeling on the topic, fwiw.

I'm not considering the iPhone 5 anymore. I still love the iPad and Macs but it seems Apple isn't going anywhere with the iPhone.

I don't think the size will matter as I have a Bluetooth headset but drawing and taking hand written notes is fun.

THANK YOU! There is NOTHING new on iPhone 5. NOTHING!

It's funny you know...the iphone 4 brought so much to the table...but two failed launches later I think it's obvious that Jobs was great because he loved to gamble and always brought something new and left the people in awe. Those days are long gone. Luckily for us - the consumer, competition is good and the end result is a wide variety of choices to suit every individuals need (Androids). It's a shame, a damn shame when once company decides to bully another in courts because it's far more successful. The iPhone 5 was on my list but after seeing it's specs and look, I'd rather not downgrade myself to a device similar to the 2011 Samsung Galaxy S II LTE. Meh.

You sir just made my day. =)

i love my lg esteem... but imagine a S3... omg. And its true man, and iphone is a branded design that modification of the UI to the extent what android has reached, there is no comparison.
