PLEASE Do not click the install button. Instead, go back to your home screen and PM me or Trident. I have turned up space on a web server to share this with everyone and Trident has written directions so that everyone can take advantage of it.

After you share it with us, it is easy for you to continue down the merry path to install the glorious 2.1.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU GET IT!!

---EDIT--- PLEASE Follow the instructions below!

1. You will first see this message appear on your phone if you are one of the testers:
droid_upgrade1.jpg

-Press "Install Now."

2. The update will then download in the background.

3. The following message will then appear:
droid_upgrade5.jpg

-You may press the home button but DO NOT PRESS "Restart & Install!"

4. Plug you phone into your computer and mount your SD card. You should now be able to browse the contents of your SD card.

5. On the root of your SD card, you will see a file called "update.zip". Copy that file to somewhere on your computer like the desktop.

6. Finally, CONTACT TRIDENT OR INPHOSYS so that they can get the file from you and share it for everyone on the internet to enjoy! (or at least everyone on this forum)

7. Now, you can now continue the update like normal. To get back to the "Restart and Install" menu as seen above, navigate to Setting> About Phone> System Updates."

If you are one of the lucky 1000 to get the 2.1 OTA this afternoon, PLEASE read this thread. It tells you how to save the update.zip file so that you can send it to us and we can distribute it to the rest of our brothers and sisters.

I have turned up web space to share the update.zip at Verision 2.1 OTA Update for Motorola Droid (Verizon Wireless)

---EDIT---
The OP was revised to give instructions on how to get the update.zip off of your phone. If you do get the update and have any questions on how to get the update.zip file off of your phone, so you can share it with the rest of us, please PM Trident or Inphosys.

ive rooted to cyanogen 5.05.4 why would i care about a 2.1 update when i already have all those goodies and more?

Because some of us don't want to root, but want 2.1 as soon as we can get our hands on it. I'm glad you're enjoying your setup. I just want to help share this update as soon as someone can get their hands on it.

Just a thought... update the first post on what to do so that people can read it.

I'm sure the non-uber geeks will just install it. But if you have a few steps up there on how to mount and get the update.zip off the phone, the success rate might be much better.

Good luck tonight everyone!

It's in my thread, which was linked on this thread.

I removed the fancy index file to make it a bit easier on me when uploading.. ;) My plan is to just link directly to the download location rather than making a new index and adding the "download" link to it.
