Galaxy S3 news and more !!

My dad owns a metro pcs store and my cousin is a high up guy in the company and both of them said that they have not heard of metro pcs coming out with the S3 :(

Haha wow are you serious even if no one believes us in here just Google and there's plenty of info on the s3 metro personally show the phone and it was tested by someone so it looks like they are keeping this info from your family

The reporter on Techradar states that:
In addition to bringing on these big name phones, MetroPCS is offering the LG Motion 4G, an Ice Cream Sandwich-run smartphone that'll cost $149 with a two-year contract.

He needs to write over and over :

Metro PCS is no contract plans.
Metro PCS is no contract plans.
Metro PCS is no contract plans.

I read that twice about the LG Motion o_O! Techradar also states its a "prepaid carrier" in the same article.

It seems strange that they would only charge this little for the S3 when they're selling the Lightray for $459...which is a phone that is a dinosaur compared to the S3. I would expect the S3 to be at least $100 more than the Lightray.

I suppose when the S3 becomes available from Metro the Lightray should go down to a more realistic price range no higher than $399 or so.

AT&T currently sells the S3 for full price @ 549.99 for the 16gb version. Sounds about right to me. Maybe with rebates Metro can get it down to $500 before tax.

well you never know. Look at the steem like still $345 and the motion is $139. So its pretty unreasonable if you tell me considering that the LG motion is 4 times better ...

:O i hate you but damn thats thin

Lol I saw that article and immediately thought of this thread:p

Also I just noticed in the picture with the drop down list of phones "r820 admire" is other
That's the Samsung phone they released a pic of side by side with the motion , zte anthem and sgs3.

I guess it will be the Samsung Admire 2 or 4G.
Which is nice to see. I loved my old Admire. It was a cheap, powerful little phone .
Especially if the dev community would be about the same.

you would wait till next year march for the s4 while everyone else would have the s3??

without giving it a second thought.

coupled with the fact that i dont have enough money to be dropping $600 on the latest and greatest every 3 months, i'm not a compulsive consumer who feels the need to have the best phone at all times.

if things stay as is and there's no announcement for anything i'll be getting the S3 and have this phone for at least a year if not 2. while there are phones out now or are coming out that will be better than the S3(the "new iphone" not being one of them) i dont see anything for a while thats gonna absolutely destroy the S3 in performance and capability warranting an upgrade for a long time.

ok i understand you and i know the new iphone can not even do half the things the s3 can

metro works backwards.

their crappiest phone is the most expensive while their best phone is the least expensive of all 4G LTE phones.

if people are gonna keep buying phones just because of screen size than i cant blame metro for wanting to make money off those people.

The reason why the LG Motion is so cheap is cause its only got a 3.5 inch screen and the resolution is a pathetic 480 x 320. Yes, performance wise it blows away the Esteem in every category, but you can't sell a phone anymore with a display & res that low for more than $200. Screen really looks cramped and ugly by today's standards. It's not just screen size affecting the pricing here...it's the nasty screen res this phone is packing I mean have you seen one yet? Hideous.

Still a hell of a deal though. Once price info for Metro's Galaxy S3 is released, I'm pretty sure you'll see that the S3 is going to be the same price as buying 5 LG Motions, since you can currently pick them up for $99...which gets you a 1.5ghz dual core and 1GB RAM...yes most of the Motions are being clocked at 1.5 for some reason instead of the advertised 1.2...

So are you implying the upcoming s3 will be same price as the motion ?

I'm saying Metro is most likely going to price the S3 around $500+ (assuming they don't cripple it and release it in the exact same form as all the other carriers). The LG Motion is currently only $99 after mail in rebate...so you could buy 5 LG Motions for the price of one S3. What do you get hardware-wise for the extra $400 I'm assuming you'll be spending on an S3?

Off the top of my head...

4.8 inch display vs 3.5 inch display
1280x720 resolution vs 480x320 resolution
2gb ram vs 1gb ram
8 megapixel camera vs 5 megapixel
16 gb internal storage vs 5 gb internal storage
plus a ton of sleek built-in features on the S3 like its wannabe Siri S-Voice and the 20 continuous shot camera

Not really anything mindblowing there for the extra $400, but eh...you only live once
