App to move or replace the notification bar

I am looking forward to getting a GS3 on Verizon on October 4th, when my current contract with AT&T expires. The only concern I have with the phone is size related. I use my phone (currently Galaxy S Captivate model) one handed, almost all the time. When I pull down the notification screen with my thumb, it is about as far as I can stretch my thumb without having to move the phone in my hand (small hands).

So, I think it will be a problem to pull down the notification screen without shifting my grip everytime. Is there an app out now that will allow me to move the notification screen or bar to the side of the screen? What I'm talking about is something similar to the Quick Settings screen that is left of home screen #1 on the Droid Razr M.

I think I"ll stop by a store on the way to home tonight to try it out, but I'm almost positive it will be an issue. It's almost an issue with my much smaller screen on my current phone.

When on home screen, tap the left softkey (options button next to home button) and there should be six buttons pop up, one should be notifications.

Edit: apparently touchwiz doesn't have it. Must be a launcher pro thing.

That's is good information. Thank you. I have LauncherPro installed on my current phone. I thought I would try the phone stock for a while to learn the interface though. I like to go into things (new phone included) with an open mind. If after a month or so and still not liking it, I would switch. I guess the amount of time would depend on whether or not my hand was big enough to operate the phone one handed or not.

I went into a store and played with a GS3 yesterday. I couldn't tell if it was too big or not. They had the big clunky power and anti-theft thing attached to the back. While there, I played with the Droid Razr M too. It wasn't bad at all. I tried the camera on both phones, and the GS3 does take pictures about as fast as I could press the shutter button. On the Razr M, it had a slight delay, but still was much faster than my phone, a Captivate (Galaxy S).

I'm currently using the Go Launcher and I can use a down swipe anywhere on the screen to bring down the Notification bar.

Glad you found this helpful, at least in some way. I tried nova & apex and Tbh I think LP is much easier to use and set up, apex was a nightmare getting landscape icons to display correctly and the Page indicators were black - with a black wallpaper practically invisible, with no option at the time to change them. Also LP let's you shortcut to services that can be useful (like the NFC setting screen) for an out of date, no longer supported launcher, LP still does what I want and more, and suits my needs.

Now if only someone could optimise LP for ICS & JB I'm sure it would be a winner.

Chances are, you will want a third party launcher to replace Touch Wiz . Apex is awesome and can you use a widget in your dock on the bottom to open notifications.

OP - if you are in a Verizon store, simply ask to see the device. They will bring one out from the back for you to hold and play with. I even had them open up their case/holster package and put it on one to see the fit. They shouldn't have any issue helping you in the same way.

You also have the option on Apex that if you swipe down from anywhere on the homescreen it pulls down the notification bar. Very useful because sometimes it is hard to reach the top.

Ah now I get ya. Yeah I don't know what TW has either. Go Launcher here.

As mentioned, with go launcher, I could set a gesture to swipe the screen up and down and that would drop the notification bar down. I actually use it to hide the dock and status bar though.
