Yep, confirmed by Sprint. Not a fan of phablets, but the Note 2 looks pretty sweet (and this will probably make twospirits happy!)

Excited, ecstatic, jumping for joy, a few words that don't even come close to how I feel.

The only downside to this may be that AT&T will probably jack up the price for early termination, knowing full well that a lot of folks will leave them to go to the other carriers for this phone (who want this phone on their network).

Technically speaking, I can still mention it since it is still a rumor. As repetitive as it may be, it is only my opinion.

If I were to bet on it, I'd say that the Eclipse comes to Sprint as the Nexus Optimus, since Sony hasn't had a top phone on the provider in a long time, I can't see that pattern changing. All things are pointing in that direction, especially with Google's announcement that they'd have multiple Nexus phones from different providers by the end of the year.

I'm still curious to see what this one turns out to be, but most of me is leaning towards the Note 2 now.

I would have to say that LG has come a long way. They are looking good. But it still will take me a while to consider buying one of their phones. I will have to wait and see how people who have the new LG phones like them.

I'm giving LG a chance, just like many started giving Samsung a chance with the SGS 2. Samsung finally pulled themselves out of the hole that LG seems to have replaced (no support/GPS woes). I wouldn't be surprised if LG makes a comeback like Samsung did.

That said, the only thing that's pushing me away from still considering the Eclipse/Optimus is it's not having a microSD slot. That will change, if the US version does include a microSD, but if they've gone the same route as Samsung where nothing changed from the international version, I'm giving Samsung a try with the Note 2.

According to some, it has a similar reputation that Samsung used to have (e.g. Poor GPS, Lack of OEM Support).

I've never heard anything good, but also never heard anything bad, but it seems like they're stepping up their game with the Optimus G. Only thing left to determine is if the US version is going to be exactly like the Korean version (e.g. no microSD and no removable battery).

It's not as big as people exaggerate. It'll fit in your pocket with no problem. I'm a 5'4" female and my 7" tab (which is bigger & thicker than this phone) goes in & out of my pockets effortlessly.

Yeah, from the early leaks of the Eclipse, it showed a removable battery (this was back in May). Since then, things might have changed, but then again...the Eclipse hit the FCC over 1 month ago, so it's possible that they changed the overall phone slightly for the US and gave it a non-removable battery.

From the looks of things, the Note 2 and the Eclipse are going to be the "big" October/November releases. It matches up with the timeframe.

August - MoPhoQ
September - iPhone 5

Each "superphone" for Sprint has been basically given 1 month for sales. I haven't seen any FCC leaks for the Note 2, but it's possible Samsung requested information not to be leaked until after the phone is officially released in the US. The Eclipse has been sitting on its FCC approval since early August, so I bet we see that first, before we see the Galaxy Note 2 (which is my preference because I'm more likely to pre-order the Note 2 than I am the Eclipse).

Samsung GPS problems are still pretty bad, my Nexus S 4g and my buddies new S3 all have various forms of GPS issues.

As for LG, if they make the Nexus, I would try it.

My radios suck on my gs3. Weak wifi and 1 bar in my house. Constantly roaming and disconnecting. Can even make a phone call from my home office.

I only have problems with signal in my house, but my house is made of brick. Anywhere else my GS3 seems to work fine.

Hopefully, Mr. Ed is in here or someone from Corporate Sprint monitoring this thread, but THIS is the phone that I think could do extremely well on Sprint!

If they ignored the fact that they wouldn't be able to charge the ridiculous tablet fees, this device would absolutely be my #1 option on Sprint. My debate between the Note 2 vs. the Optimus G (Eclipse) would get tossed out and the Padfone 2 would become my #1 choice.

any issues have been one-off hardware issues that should be address through warranty.

Maybe fixed according to Samsung but not according to the other cell phones in use at my house. Mines the worst by far!.... Back on topic now, sorry Drexappeal. Drex what do you like about the Asus so much?

No apologies necessary. Even though I relinquished the title, I still try to help out the staff on big threads like this by keeping the discussions connected to the thread title.

As for the Padfone or Padfone 2, what I like about it the most is the convenience. Rather than having to get a separate tablet, for use in the office, I could use the tablet accessory for meetings and to check emails while I'm at the office (but away from my desk).

For road trips, I can just pop my phone into the tablet accessory and browse on a 10 inch screen, using my unlimited phone data, and not have to tether or use a hotspot app.

While at a hotel, the keyboard docking port is perfect for answering emails, while I'm out of the office, but still responding to urgent matters. Overall, the padfone 2 provides everything I'd need both personally and in business. I think the only things that stalled the success of that device were 1) Not sold in the US, and 2) Pricing was extremely high (purchasing a phone and separate tablet still came out cheaper than the combined package of phone/tablet/keyboard for the original padfone).

It's a moot point though because I don't see Sprint offering the Padfone 2 (or any other US provider). The Padfone 2 would prevent them from being able to offer 3g/4g enabled tablets that require a separate tablet plan to connect to the network.
