ICS source code was released today for this device and we now need people to help. If you own this device please join the new IRC chat at freenode.net #oudhitsquad. If you come please be prepared with adb installed. If you need help with that just let us know and we will tell you anything you need to know. Begin by letting us know what device you are there for please, so we can be prepared. I already have a kernel made and we can probably move right along to CWMR once we have some users in the IRC for a few days. Cheers!

Sorry I missed you AlwaysSmile. I'll be back in force on Monday, the weekend is family time and tomorrow is "Bring your dad to school' day. Thanks for showing up! But, what we'll be doing is trying to gain root, then get partition dumps so we can get CWM working. IDK if anyone will pick up CM or other ROMS, but we'll do all we can to make it possible.

This root method has worked for a number of devices from all vendors. Give it a try, try it a couple times, and let us know if you get root.
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v12.7z

Unfortunately, that link didn't work for me. I'll try my browser at home later this evening to make sure it isn't due to configurations on this work PC.

I took the second file off because a newer version came out here's the links with a little instruction:
Samsung Drivers
Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v13.zip

First install the drivers unless you have Samsung Kies already installed.
Next, extract the Root tool
Run the RunMe.bat as administrator, it will tell you when to plug the device in.
Follow the on screen prompts. Report back with your findings. If you are able to get root, we can then get partition dumps and possibly make CWMR...
Cheers.

Below is the info from the "About Device" menu:
Model Number: SPH-M950
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband Version: M950VPLH6
Kernel Version:
3.0.8-perf-1047073-user
se.infra@SEP-90#1
Build Number: IMM76I.M950VPALH6
Hardware Version: M950.07

Something that I notice, and I don't know if it makes any difference or not, but it seems this phone is only able to do MTP or PTP for file transfer... can't get a drive letter. Don't know if that makes any difference.
