Verizon Galaxy Nexus Receiving 4.1.1 Update Now!

Oh yeah, I was too. I forgot as I was using Franco's kernel flashing tool and it updated the kernel automatically.

It's hard to tell, but I think I have better battery life on JB than I did on ICS, but then again I am using optimized kernels, etc.

I've Googled this in the past, but really nervous to actually take the step to moving to a custom ROM.

Do either of you have any advice for a true newbie on steps to do this?

It is usually very simple on a Nexus device. I'd wait until Jb drops so you can just follow steps for that. FWIW I have mostly run the stock software. I only went the custom route as my Nexus 7 came with JB and I wanted some consistency between the two.

If I have the Zip file downloaded from the leak a few weeks ago, how would I get that onto the phone? Do I need to install an app that will help me use that file or is there a method I can do on the phone?

I'm not 100% sure as I haven't done it without having root. I think you have to have a custom recovery or have adb set up. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Congrats, now I can't wait to get home.:congrats:

Of course as I was typing that previous message, my project lead came in and had some questions so I couldn't start the install right away, so now I'm delayed by a whole 5 minutes! It's applying it now, has the android with it's innards spinning .

Looking forward to this, I've been using JB on my nexus 7. It will be nice to have google now on a device I have with me most of the time. The traffic updates in particular to/from work will be awesome.

happy friday all!

I forced pulled it today around noon when I saw the news hit the internet.
Took me about 10 tries on wi-fi and it started downloading. 20 minutes later I was rock'n some Jelly Bean.

Steve

Congrats maineultraclas:thumbup:

This one seems to be going way more smoothly than the 4.04 rollout did.
