Help iPhone user getting an S3 as a work phone. What can I expect?

you can expect big screen! what do you mean expect? Please be specific.. What do you exactly expect it to do? Like in general so we can get an idea of what do you really want S3 to do.

If it's gaming or social they both do the same thing. if it's for work or business they both fall a part in my point.

Easier typing experience, especially if it has Swype or you get Swype for it. Much more customizations of the home screen which will allow for much faster access to the things you need and access the most.

I'll be curious how texting/emailing is different with the larger screen; could be a lot easier.

As it's a work phone, no rooting or jailbreaking allowed.

I'm looking forward to exploring the Android app store. Any 'must-have' apps?

Edit: Is there a main 'app store' for Android?

The big difference is the "stores".

While Apple has their books, apps, and movies in different places, you can find all of that in one spot called the play store.

Lookout Mobile Security will be worth having , and obviously Google Maps and Earth. Tapatalk lets you post easily on this forum (and upload photo's).

I use my SGS3 for work every day and it is by far better than the iphone 3GS I used to use and also any blackberry on the market. It's quick and easy to type on (I use the swift key 3 keyboard) and is really quick and easy to do real work on it.
I've used it to access excel files I have on google docs, copy sections of information and paste that into the body of an email so I can give a complete response. That sort of functionality is a nightmare on any of the other phones, but quick and easy on the SGS3. All I will say is you will need to spend a bit of time and read up how to manage your battery life. I now get about 15 hours a day out of mine but when I first got it the setup only gave me about 6 hours, there are loads of good posts and articles on how to sort this out though.
Good luck and you won't regret it

Expect to have a charger on you at all times.

I have no trouble going 14 to 16 hours on a charge. That's with several phone calls, a lot of texting, some web surfing, facebook checking, watching a couple (short) videos, playing a game or 2 during breaks, downloading a podcast or two for the drive home, taking some pictures here and there.

I consider myself at least a moderate, if not heavy, user and battery life is not a problem at all for me. VZW store employees seem to be telling customers that the S3 is a battery hog, but it just isn't true. I suspect their motivation is to sell some other phone.

I would install a new launcher right away. Touchwiz will give you an extremely bad taste of android, apex or nova launcher would do the trick (doesn't require rooting). Don't even play around with touchwiz. Other then that make sure you give yourself time to get use to the phone before making any opinions. I remember reading an article that state it took X amount of time to un-learn one phone and learn another.

Also I would keep a charger around you if you are a heavy user. I use my phone all day long and charge it when I can.

Anyway welcome to the club!
