Morning all. I am looking to get the Note 10.1 and am wondering if it would be a good laptop replacement. Basically, I feel like it's sort of a waste to have a laptop and a tablet.

Basically, it will be used for web browsing, video chatting, downloading books and music (via torrent), photo storage and sharing, and note taking for work.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I would say YES, it has the battery that can handle a full day of browsing, note taking, emailing, game play, whatever you like. Polaris Office is great, and being able to multitask it great too! And with the ability to add up to 64g of memory download all the music, movies and books you like. Photoshop is amazing on it also

As for the Galaxy 10.1 Note Tablet being a direct replacement for a laptop, that is something you must decide. Myself I feel a laptop still has many advantages over the tablet. And both are needed and useful in their own unique ways.;)

I couldn't agree with GT more.
Based on what you do with it; those are things I call the basics, a tablet is a suitable replacement--IF that's all you want to do. Laptops, IMO can never be fully replaced my tablets due to just not being able to do everything on a tablet.

I NEVER see this mentioned in ANY forum post--let's say I want to play one of my FB games. I cant do that on my tablet because of flash. Sure, I can answer my friends game request because those aren't flashed based. On that note I need my laptop for the rest.

My needs are basic like yours so a tablet of lesser quality than the Note would do just fine--but I gotta have the Note. ;)

just remember with a tablet you cant do everything that a labtop can do. obviously because a tablet is an android os and a pc is windows os.

id get a windows tablet if you want the full feature of a labtop in your hands.

they are not cheap but its what ever you like. if you like the android os then get an android tablet.

i have a note 10.1 and it wasn't going to replace my labtop. just because i can do a lot more on a labtop. i use my note when im chillen on the bed or couch.

So as far as photos, is there any way to transfer pictures from a digital camera directly to the tablet? The memory card in the camera is NOT a microsd card. Thanks

You just need USB connection kit and can connect your camera straight to the tablet, no porblem here.

I would not say it is a replacement for a laptop though.
