Turn off light strip?

Hi everyone, I'm contemplating getting an Xperia U but I'm not sure I like the coloured light strip that changes colour. Can you turn it off?

The strip lights can not be turned off, they change colour based on the notification the handset has received.

Thanks mate. I think I'll look elsewhere then. It does seem a decent phone apart from the gimmicky light strip. Shame.

Yes, you can. You need to download a free application from the Play Store called Night Mode.

Once you have downloaded the app press the ''Start'' button within the app then adjust the brightness back to how you had it before.

If you want to switch the Illumination Bar back on go to settings by clicking the right soft key from within the app then a ''Settings'' tab will open, click this then uncheck the ''Disable Button Backlight''

The Illumination Bar Notifications app still works with Night Mode running which is the only really useful thing about the Illumination Bar itself.
