Help Can you manually put 2.1 on the moment?

Hi I am looking to pick up a new phone in July. I was thinking about possibly picking up the Samsung moment. I know Samsung is usually very slow with releasing updates so I was just wondering if in general you could manually update the phone with the latest updates or do you need to wait for samsung to do it.

you can manually update it, but that would require 2.1 for the samsung moment to be released. unfortunately, it hasn't been released yet.

But if Sprint keeps true to their word 2.1 will be released by July. Sprint has stated the 2.1 will be available on the Moment sometime during the 2nd qtr of this year. But the EVO 4G should be out sometime this summer also so you may wanna shy away from the Moment anyway.

Depends if they force me to pay for 4g with it. I have a laptop and my home internet is fast enough that I dont need 4g with me all the time. If this is the case I am sold on the Evo, and if I deem it necessary I can always add the 4g.

Sprint already confirmed in multiple channels that 4G data will not cost extra at launch since it is actually cheaper for them to use than 3G.
