Few questions about the Galaxy Ace

Hello. I'm a new member here as well with a new phone :)
I bought the Samsung Galaxy ace with the Android 2.3.3 Version.
I got a few questions regarding the Software.

Question 1: What is the current official update for the Galaxy Ace?
Saw a friend with 2.3.6 update( on his Ace), but I have no idea why I can't update mine via the software updater.

Question 2: Are there some news about the Galaxy Ace being planned for future updates? I think it could jump off to the land of Ice creams and Jelly Beans?

Question 3: Does Rooting the phone make it's warranty fall?

The Ace looks awesome by the way. Loving it to the max!

Welcome to androidforums Spliddo,
1. Official update depends on the phone you have, there are many variants of the ACE S5830, the original ace has a 2.3.6 update the other variants might not have it yet.
What exactly is your phone's model?? Check in settings>about phone

2. Samsung doesn't seems to support its older models, the probability of android 4.0+ updates is extremely slim. Although unofficially these updates are already available for the root users of original ace.

3. Yes, rooting the phone voids the warranty.

Don't know about ACE 2, but the ACE is not even getting ICS by samsung, forget JB.

I didn't think that the ACE was getting it, just posting what I found, it was likely it was the ACE 2 on the site. However, based on some post from the other side of the pond, the S Advance might go straight to JB skipping ICS. I don't know how true this is anyway.

Isn't it a bloody shame that Samsung does not bother to support their older phones but focus in only flooding the market with newer & newer models. The Xperia Tipo/Miro have very similar h/w (except for a small differences like bigger capacity battery etc) as compared to Ace but is 'out of the box' with ICS

Samsung has no shame in this regard, they just want to sell their latest phones.
Sony is much much better in terms of software support, even the early 2011 models are getting ICS updates, samsung hasn't even given the latest GB update to some of its early 2011 models.
