Root Need help to upgrade my rom

Hi,

While i was trying to install a new ROM for my SAMG ACE an error message appeared and distort the operation.

E: error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip
installation aborted

I already wiped the cache and partition. I also tried with another ROM (same issue)

I have as kernel version 2.6.35.7.

Can you please help me to fix this issue and upgrade my ACE.

Firstly so i can help, Can you answer these questions:-

1 - What is the model of your phone? is it an S5830 or does it have another letter after like S5830I (or B etc)
2 - What firmware are you currently running? - (like 2.3.5 etc)
3 - What recovery are you running? is it the stock 3e or Clockworkmod?
4- What ROM are you trying to install and how?

This error usually occurs when the phone is not rooted properly or the zip file is not on the root sd but inside some folder or if the rom's updater script is bad.

Check yourself and see whats the problem, for the updater script, see in the rom's thread if anyone has reported this problem before.

Ok. The issue here is you have the I version which is not the same as the S5830. It has different hardware and the normal ACE roms will not work with it.

You also have the stock recovery and need Clockworkmod recovery to flash a custom ROM. I think you have been very lucky not to brick your device. Have a read up HERE as it contains a forum specific to your device and make sure you properly understand what your doing as bricking your device in this way voids any warranty.

PJ147 is absolutely right, you are very lucky not to have bricked your phone.
That is a CM7.2 rom for S5830, it could have fried your phone.
Except for the name and looks, there is nothing similar about S5830 and S5830i, completely different chipsets.

You should read more mate, it'll keep your phone safe, and just for the knowledge you can't install a custom rom with stock recovery.
