Root flashing smelk

okay so i tried to flash smelk by putting on root of sd it didnt work it kept saying parsing but nothing happen after 5 mins so i pull battery. so how would i do it the adb way

Did you rename it correctly?
If you want to try the adb method, dont quote me on this, but I think it would be similar to ocn's guide to flashing a recovery...just substitute the amon ra, with the smelkus .zip.

1.download amon ra 2.3 from here:
PC36IMG_RA_2.3.zip
2.extract the file and then go into and move recovery.img file into the android folder you created when unlocking your bootloader.
3.on your phone after you have unlocked your phone you should be in the bootloader menu screen, select the fastboot option
4.on your computer press and hold shift while right clicking the android folder.
5.select open command window here option (windows 7)
6.enter command:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
congrats!!!!!! you have just installed amon ra 2.3

I've heard of some s-on people having issues with smelkus install.

with s-on you will need to follow the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html. go to the HTCdev method. skip step #1 and go to step #2 to get recovery.

basically

1.download the smelkus.zip
2.extract the file
3.move the recovery.img to your android folder
4.go to fastboot on the phone via bootloader
5.open the command window from the android folder
6.type in the command:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

and your done.


keep in mind that the PC36IMG files that are in the guide for amon ra are specially made by captain throwback especially for the guide. other PC36IMG files will not work with a s-on phone.

if that did nt work then you will have to pull the recovery.img out and fastboot command it in.

Not sure what the aroma recovery that you speak of is, but you could temporarily move it out, extract the img file from smelkus and put it in the folder
