All keyboards miss keypresses

Hey guys, I've been having this problem for months but never bothered to report it as I thought a new keyboard would fix it.

So far, I've tried: Stock keyboard on ICS and JB, Swiftkey (all versions), Touchpal, swype, tried each of these keyboards on GB, ICS and JB, and they will all fail to register a keypress on my phone, which means I can't text fast.

The only keyboard that does not miss keys when I'm typing is the HTC Stock keyboard that came with stock GB, so is there a way to fix this or is there an apk with the HTC stock keyboard?

First off remove your battery put it back in and reboot.

If nothing changes, try Factory Resetting your phone.

If that fails, then your phone has something faulty with it :(

hopefully this helps

Already did all of the above, and still something wrong.

How can my phone be faulty if there the HTC keyboard works properly?

Most definitely a hardware problem

Are you running stock or do you have a custom ROM?

This could also be a hardware limitation, rather than a problem. If you're texting rapidly, the phone may not be capable of reading the multiple touches. Many devices, like the Kindle Fire and low end devices, can't read more than 2-3 touch points. The Incredible S wasn't a low end device, but it could still be plausible.

Are there "dead spots" when you text slow and steady?

I'm running Nik's Jellybean evolution for Incredible S. I know its not a ROM or android version problem, because I stated in my first post that I tried out multiple keyboards, such as swype, touchpal and swiftkey on the stock GB rom when I first got my phone and the custom keyboards would miss keypressses too

Yes, there are dead spots when I text slow, eg the letter "A", but when I tap again in the exact same spot it usually registers....

I'm pretty sure the Incredible S is capable of up to 5 touch points, because I played fruit ninja and did a 4 finger combo (and a 4 point touch screen is kind of a wierd number!!!)

Aw man, that sucks, when you say hardware limitation, what do you mean?

I explained what I meant by hardware problem...

But this could easily be a ROM issue. I had the same problem, as did many others, on my AOKP running Glacier. There was frequently a spot, near the A/S actually, which wouldn't respond occasionally. Your logic is backwards...If no keyboards work, it makes sense to be a ROM issue.

All ROMs I've installed are specifically for the HTC Incredible S, I'll go over to xda and ask any Incredible S'ers whether they have the same problem.

Sounds like it could be a touch screen issue. Try installing the Touch Test app and then try tapping on various parts of your screen to see if it registers your taps.

I installed it, and my touch screen is fine, it registers just fine everywhere.

I recall someone had an issue with a different phone where if he drags his fingers across the screen, it registers. However, if he taps on the screen, there is a dead area in the middle where it doesn't register his touch if he taps his fighters there. However, if he drags his finger across that dead aread, it registers. Did you tap on the screen or drag your finger across?

Hey, I always tap, let me try dragging my finger. If it works its going to be annoying, but thanks anyways.

EDIT: Dragging my finger reduces a lot of dead spots, theres still a few, but good enough, however dragging is kind of impractical. I installed the Gingerbread keyboard and instantly there were no dead spots whatsoever!!! Extremely strange.
