Green Bay bad call

So I watched this last night and was shocked at the horrible call the refs made Green Bay clearly won here watch for yourselves and let hear your opinions

NFL is putting out an official statement. Said YES, there was obvious offensive pass interference but that it wasn't called and isn't reviewable. But, that they stand by the ruling on the field of a TD.

Seattle had the same scab officials and the bad calls went both ways. I think the loss was achieved in the first half because:

Seattle had 8 or 9 sacks, 4 in the first quarter. McCarthy should have used their 2-3 Tight End sets at the start of the second quarter. He waited too long to make the adjustment.

The last play of the game, the D-back who was fighting for the ball (Jennings?) should have just batted it down. Going for the interception and padding his personal stats ultimately cost the Packers the game. The coach should have made this clear before the play even started they were to just bat the ball down.

The call could have gone either way, if both officials would have said it was picked off, the NFL would not have reversed that and supported the call on the field. Then Seattle's fan would be pissed.

As a Vikings fan, I almost pissed myself because I was laughing so hard when I watched the play . That's just me as I hate the Fudgies (as in Fudge Packers ).

I have to disagree. There should be zero bad calls in a game. Bad calls on both sides makes the situation even worst, that they're blowing more than just one call. The real refs will occasionally blow a call, but these guys messed up the whole game and messed up a crucial call that decided the game.

Honestly , I don't see how this call could've gone either way. Jennings had it pinned against his chest with both arms around the ball. Tate snuck one arm in under the ball and that's it. It's pretty clear that Jennings had it. If both refs called it an interception, there wouldn't be a controversy because it was the right call.

Even then, let's just say that it was up in the air who had control of the ball, Tate clearly shoved a different defender to the ground before trying to make the catch. It should've been called pass interference and the TD nullified anyways.

Batting the ball down doesn't always work anyways. Take the Lions/Titans game for example, the defender batted it and it flew into the hands of a receiver.

With all due respect, I think your hatred towards Green Bay is slightly blinding the issue . If this happened to the Vikings you'd be up in arms too. As much as I hate certain teams, no team deserves to be screwed like that.

In a perfect world this would be the case, but as you said, the legit officials could have blew that call as well. I was not siding with the scabs, but both teams had to deal with these guys.

Well, yes and no. As soon as I saw the side judge signal touchdown, I knew there was going to be a problem. The official who was coming from the back of the end zone was doing the correct thing by signaling the play dead, and I thought they would confer with each other and then make the call. But as you know this was not the case.

In my defense, I have several good friends who are Packer fans and do not pull any punches when given the chance. My Vikings have been giving them way too much ammunition these past few years. So pardon my jubilation . Keep in mind that the bums tried to give the Vikes game away vs the 49ers.

It's one game early in the season. The official that made the worst call of all time is the one that robbed Detroit's Armando Gallarraga of a perfect game.

Yes, the replacement refs are not quite up to snuff in some cases. I've heard that teams are training for lousy calls.

That's the right call. Two wrongs don't make a right. Ten wrongs don't make a right. A million wrongs don't make a right.

The worst part about this fiasco is that after the NFL Lite officials made at least three wrong calls that resulted in the Seattle putting points on the board, the NFL glosses over the bad calls made earlier in the game, and cherry-picked from the rule book, using obfuscation and half-truths about the last play in a CYA move instead of doing the Right Thing. The ESPN commentators spelled out in great detail why the play was a turnover and pass interference. And they cited every rule that applied. The NFL's sound bite excuse is inexcusable.

The NFL refused to honor their own rules, and that makes them suck big time. As far as I'm concerned, the 2012 season will be an asterisk with "FAIL" next to it. It's bad enough that we're stuck in an election that's for sale to the highest bidder. The last thing I want is a pro football season full of scandal. NFL, you're fired. I'm sticking to college ball this year.

Well, the replacements are now unemployed and the regular officials have a sweet part time job that will pay $200,000 a year. Boy, did I miss the boat when I made my career choices .

At only $200,000 a year they're at the very bottom of the middle class. At least according to Mitt Romney.

Don't feel bad for the replacements though. They'll go back to their regular part-time jobs officiating high school sports, no doubt with a new found sense of self-importance that will keep them riding high for a long time.

I don't feel sorry for them but I do feel bad for them. The NFL put them in a no win position knowing they would fail. The smart ones turned the opportunity down. But, I don't know how I would react to networks like ESPN constantly commenting on how shitty I am when all I could do was try and do the best job I could. Even though it was not be good enough because I was unknowingly in over my head.

BTW, the part time comment was from the show NFL AM. That is what they referred to it (the officials job) as.
