Root Odin (Return phone to Stock/Factory)

Well, if you have CWM ( Clockworkmode ) already, you can use the ones without.

I am suggesting to just get the PREVAIL_M820_FA19_Rooted_CWM and then the ROM ( CTMod3.68 with kouma kernel, or 187MoD or CyanogenMod 7 or any of the ROMS) you like.

I like CTMod, other guys like the cm7........... it's the personal taste.

Can I just leave it on stock rom? I am just doing this so she can have a bit more room on her phone. And I don't think she would utilize CM7 or a kernel to their full potential.

I believe you need to be rooted and use a custom ROM to use the sd-ext which gives you more room to install stuff...... and the custom ROM and kernel will do that !!

I would just follow the guide "Rooting the Prevail for Dummies" which should get you what you want in no time..... and if you have any trouble, there are many people in here who can help.....

I will use that. I am downloading Odin atm. But what I mean by getting her more space is just uninstall the bloat and use a app that will allow me to force apps to be installed to the SD Card so I can install Maps, Youtube, Facebook ect to the SD Card.

Both ctmod and cm7 have kernels designed to utilize a sdext without an additional app.

They mount the sdext as the data partition. This allows you to create as much 'internal memory' as you like

Ctmod is like stock but stripped down for speed (bloat pre-removed, and tweaks to maximize speed)

That's a good way to start !

Depending on the size of your SD-Card, I would created a partition with 1024 or 2048 ( By a 4GB or larger card ) or 512 or 1024 by a 2GB card with swap=0. Then format the sd-ext.

Once you have installed CTMod, boot up the phone all the way, then go to Settings>>>CTMod Settings>>>Koumasettings and select DATA and put a checkmark in the box..... Then reboot into CWM recovery and re-format sd-ext again and reboot............ This FIRST reboot can take anywhere from 5 - 10 minutes, so be patient !!!

She does have a 4GB Micro SD Card. So I should just give it 1024MBs (Assuming that is 1GB) So that means her phone will think it has 1GB of internal storage?

i literally said the EXACT same thing last night... i think thats bs

Yeah you did.

I've just got one question about that........... How can Samsung take something that's based off an open source platform and then get it pulled down for copyright infringement? Kinda messed up if you ask me.

There's a thread over in the Warp section where one of ZTE's employees actually posted a thread and said that he's been reading up on all of the problems the phone is having. He's actually all for the development of the phone here in AF. Wouldn't it be nice if Samsung would do the same? Lol

Well, not -everything- in the phone is open source. There are a couple drivers that are closed source and some Sprint/Boost stuff.

I think what they may be going after is files containing copies of Odin, since that's theirs, leaked, and not supposed to be available to the public
