Root [ROM] Viper 4G 2.0.0 and beyond

So Far, So Good, So What!

Flashed this about 2 in the am and have gotten it setup my usual way. ssLauncher, chrome, and other apps that TB has restored for me. Camera seems to be working fine and so does everything else. I will have to give it a few days to see how it goes. I haven't had any fc's and thats a good thing. Wifi is on after a sleep and its just as fast as can be. I haven't used SetCPU as I like to wait a few days with a new ROM to see how its going to perform on its own. I'm on just V 2 and have not updated to V 2.1 I will probably update in a couple of days. If I get the time between moving, working, and my everyday life stuff then I will do a full review on this as I have done in the past with the OG.

For now the short is this:
its stable and good. much better than stock but it has a lot of customization's which can make the n00b a bit uncomfortable. Chew in small bites not big ones :p keep up with others issues and see if you have them as well. REPORT all bugs and please NOT TO ME but to the DEVS. If you report to me I will not fix them
Before you start using SetCPU, viperboy had posted this over on xda:
Ok, let me clear up a few things about vC. If you have SetCPU installed, the 21viperrom file in /system/etc/init.d that runs at boot knows and it will not start either viperDaemon OC Daemon. Why? Because setCPU will conflict with both of them. Yes, you can manually force it to start in vC, but you shouldnt.
So if you want to use ViperControl you might want to think about removing SetCPU.

I have wifi connect on reboot with 2.0.1.

Mine cleared up, not sure what was the reason but it is working fine now.

Flashing 2.0.0 and then doing the 2.0.1 update worked for me, viperboy said that I ought to have wiped data, instead.

Mine shows no update available but I am on 2.0.0, is there a different way to check for updates other than system updates?

I didn't know that we were all back in Apple's hell again and that we're stuck with fixed links everywhere and none in the Mail app with the new rom base. Steel is working on apps, but we'll see, sounds like a really big job.

I'm pulling the international One X apps to see if those might work. Probably a terrible idea.

Another choice is to remove Sense entirely on the install. Not sure what that will entail. I can't count the HTC apps I rely upon.

I'll gladly post my setup when I get there. :D

:eek:Say it isn't so! I was happy to have gotten rid of the "rotten apple", this is disturbing indeed...:hmmmm:

Well, my mod worked, but the images I used were for the OG. They didn't scale properly. :(

I'll have to work on it. 200+ images will take a while.

I used the OTA update, worked fine for me without wiping anything. Really liking this Rom, still playing with all of the tweaks.

Hopefully Steel can fix the linkify garbage before too long.

Not sure, going to go to a previous nandroid and start over from scratch.

On edit: I did not update my radio or firmware prior, could this be the issue?

That could be possible. Everyone seems to think Roms based on 2.13 are working better on the newest 2.13 firmware and radio's.

I do know that over a 1 year period I never updated the radio's or firmware on the Original Evo 4G and never had a problem with roms based on updated firmware.

Edit: It reads like I don't think the newer radio's and firmware are needed. I just want to clarify that I have updated mine especially since the network is constantly changing at the moment with the network vision stuff happening to the towers.

I personally quit using gallery in favor of Quick Pic Are you having any camera issues? I know the gallery is tied into the camera. If no issues with the camera try to do a cache and dalvic wipe and see what happens if still an issue wipe the gallery data.

The Viper4G team is pretty much set that the new radios are required. Plus, they fix some bugs, so I went for them, if that helps.

I've always kept my radios in alignment with kernel and rom releases. I guess that's not the standard practice that it once was.

you have a link? I haven't updated my firmware either but so far I am not having any of the issues that others are having in fact this is working better than the stock one that came on the phone. Only issue I have is individual ringtones are not sticking for me its just rings the default ringtone. nothing to run crying about though
