Root iPhone 5 or HTC Evo V?

The iPhone is a wonderful device that has taken off like a rocket because it is so good. I prefer Android as I like to tinker with things.

I do find it funny that the thread is joking about the the iPhone having data leaks, poor maps, and other issues. Meanwhile, the EVO (out of the box) doesn't even work and needs a radio update and whole updated ROM just to function. You guys are the best ;)

If I had the $600+ - Id be tempted, but I dont, so there we are :)

Well we can't forget they do have a fairly strong majority in the market, and iPhones are usually desired by 12 year olds who won't be nearly as careful with their phones.

Desired by, but not purchased and used by 12 year olds. I'd say their target is college students since every university I know sponsors Mac basically and business professionals. Every engineer I've met uses one. That's just my observation, I dont have a clue what the actual stats are. But everyone and their mom in college that's hip carries one, whether or not it's activated :D

I'm in college and I can vouch for that. I usually just come to EXPECT someone I meet has an iPhone without even asking. My 4 closest friends do...

I need new friends ;)

It sounds like the OP has already made his decision. If he's looking for a more dumbed-down experience with the OS, and is comfortable having basically the SAME phone among millions of people, with few options to customize, there's no one stopping him from picking it up.

If he doesn't like VM's current offerings, he could try a different carrier, such as Ting. Just my opinion.

Anyone who says Flash is a dying technology has obviously never heard of Newgrounds. You try making a frame-by-frame animated feature with HTML5, and let me know how that works out.

Let me guess, we should just export all our animations to avi format and upload them to YouTube in lossy quality, sacrificing playback controls and other interactive elements?

No. Find me something better than a .swf for that and then we'll talk about ditching Flash.

Stuff just got serious.

I've played with it. It's better than the Evo in almost every aspect. Minus the OS restrictions.

It's fast. The cameras are awesome (the front face camera looks better than our rear cameras tbh). The screen looks better than real life.

That's all it has really going for it. I'm sure the GSIII is better (I played with a GSII and it's tons better than a Evo V)

Personally, I prefer Android due to the fact that it has better sound output (yup, that's one of the only things.).

I'd really rather they get the next Nexus phone or something.

Agreed. I don't know why companies are starting to abolish it.

Heard of Adobe edge? Might be what you're looking for. Might not.

Flash is a dying technology for video and web design while flash gaming might continue although it might be over taken by unity eventually. There are other niches where flash might live in but it will not be a must have plugin like it has been.

On mobile on the other hand flash is dead. If you want your content avalible everywhere you are most definitely not using flash.

I'd take the current Nexus, cause I hold it's the best phone on the market. Vanilla Android and first support from Google means a lot to most of us... because obviously we all want CM10 (those of us who have taken the leap to s-off anyway).

The SIII might be better in many ways, but it's still a little silly. Without a case it feels like I could break it over my knew without even a bruise, and it only comes in blue and white. White makes you look like an early 90's pimp and blue doesn't match enough of my clothing.

And then there's Touchwiz, but I'll leave that one alone...

I still haven't decided if I'm going to return or keep this phone.
I like android so much. It never gets boring to me. I mean iPhone your really excited about it and then by the end of the first week, you get really bored of it. The only thing that keeps iPhone not so boring are the apps.
I think I'm going to return this phone and wait for a higher end android phone. I'm really amazed with how custom androids can get!
I really want a good android phone that I can have for 3-4 years.

You want a smartphone for 3-4 years?

That's like saying you want to be married to the same girl til death... it's just crazy talk.

The EVO V 4G does work out of the box without modifying.
It just works better with different Radio software.
Yes, "software", as in maybe the phone was too good for the pre-paid market, and they dumbed it down on purpose - my personal theory.

I never touched an iPhone, so I don't know, but what do they do that an Android Phone can not?
They both......

While you could make this phone work for 4 years. I would recommend upgrading every 2 to 3 years. If you are ok with using an outdated phone for that long go ahead but I personally couldn't handle not being able to run the latest apps.

Nice - I did not know that!!!! I guess the dozens of threads in THIS forum about MMS errors are all imagined. And HTC 'dumbed down' the radio software so users would purposely get constant errors on sending/receiving text messages? Thats some business plan.
Perhaps the HTC CEO is George Costanza and hes doing the 'exact opposite' of what he should do for a successful campaign.;)

I did not say that, nor that there were no errors, but it works, worked very well for me, just works better with different radio software. For $200, and $35 a month "contract free", pretty much what I expected.
I do not see anyone jumping for joy with their bottom line pre-paid service or equipment - it does seem the more you pay, the better the experience is.

Thats some business plan.
Hence the "my personal theory" as I don't think any CEO really knows what's going on at the user level.
