Regular calculator??

I looked thru lots of calculator apps but they seemed to be either tip calculators or scientific ones. I'd like on that's just like the calculator i use at my desk. I know how to figure out what the tip amount would be so don't really want one that does only that. and the one that seems to be in my Droid doesn't have a % key, unless i've missed it. I just don't see the need to have 2 different kinds of calculators taking up space on my phone. any suggestions?

if it is say a bill of $200 and you want to give 20% tip, just multiply 200 with 0.2 which is $40.

If you want that added to the sum you just multiply 200 with 1.2 which is $240

It's that easy.

Um, maybe I'm missing it, but it seems to me you say what you don't want, but you don't say what you do want?

If you want a calculator that's just a little more advanced without going overboard or customized, you may already have what you are looking for:

I don't know how it works on the Droid, but on the Galaxy (which uses the standard Android Calculator) you actually only see half the buttons (1-9, +,-, etc) -- if you swipe sideways you'll get another set of more advanced buttons. :)

Lol, well I never knew that . I actually removed the stock calc from my phone and installed a scientific one, only to get the extra standard buttons. I'll add it back the next time I do a ROM upgrade and try it out.

that's exactly what i was looking for!! thanks loads!
and how do you uninstall stuff that came on the phone?
there are several things I'll likely never use

First, you have to be rooted. Next, the easiest way is to pay a little bit of money and just buy "Root Explorer". You can mount the system as r/w, then navigate to /system/app and rename various default programs. Notice how I said rename? If you delete something you shouldn't, you might screw your phone up. If you rename it and you shouldn't have, you just rename it back.

Oh and don't touch Mms.apk. (your default messaging app). It took me a bit of time and some severe frustration when I did that and then couldn't figure out why handcent had stopped working. It turns out you need that app to use any other messaging app. lol.

So installing a new app to get the redundant precent sign is easier than multiplying by 0.<precent> (like 0.3 for 30% for the sum it represent, or 1.<precent> (like 1.3 to add 30% to the total sum) to add to the sum? Which is basic math and I would assume everyone that passed elementry school would either know or recall.
