So I want the perks of making my phone a Evo 3D fully such as better signal and 3G....

only thing is I'm SCARED of S-Off can anyone PLEASE shed some light on this?

any info PLEASE or a good step by step to do S-Off that is basically 99.9% safe.......

I have Root/Midnight rom and Anthrax kernel.... overclocked @ 1.5 ghz...

please shed some light on this.

To do S-Off you have to do the wire trick. Period. No way around it.

S-Off is required for the Evo 3D thread fix.

The wire trick will not destroy your phone. FACT.

I did it just fine. There are 2 possible negative outcomes of the wire trick.
1. Your SD card gets erased. Solution = back it up before hand or use a spare one

2. You get stuck in a bootloop. Solution = flash back to stock ROM.

You will NOT permanently harm your phone in any way from attempting the wire trick.

Rooting your phone only unlocks it halfway. S-Off is the process of unlocking your bootloader and completely unlocking your phone. When your phone is completely unlocked you can flash updated radios for a better signal as well as more easily install custom ROMs and kernels. In short, it just gives you complete access to your phone.

I read you have to do a wire trick if on Hboot 1.5+. That is one thing I'm not willing to do.

Haha, no worries. S-OFF is nothing put sticking a wire into a hole and connecting it with the plate of the micro sd card. It won't harm your phone at all. Believe me, I was hesitant at first but the second you do it the second time because you are still sober, you will realize that there is nothing to worry about. :D

Really? Can anyone else confirm this? I doubt it though.

Confirm what? That it increases signal strength? This is right from the thread:

"This will document how to more or less turn your phone into a Sprint Evo 3D with all the best parts. The purpose of this is to reduce signal fluctuations, increase signal strength, and allow you to run almost any Virgin or Sprint rom, old or new with as few issues as possible. MMS, phone, everything works, exactly as it should."

So if you do the evo 3d fix, data speeds are actually worse??

Data speeds can vary from radio to radio seeing as how the radio affects how the tower's signal is received. However the radio in the Fix Everything thread is the 530 radio, which is not known for crappy data speeds. It's actually known for better signal than stock. So don't worry about it.

Thanks for the info! Do you know how I could revert to VM's default radio after applying the evo 3d fix?

I would not recommend the VM stock radio for the Evo V 4G because that is what causes the radio error (where texts and calls don't go through). If you want a list of different radios to try, look in this thread:

I'd recommend either the 530 radio (which is in the Fix Everything thread), or the 808 radio from the thread I linked above. Both are great improvements over the stock radio.
