Thoughts on the Trident Aegis?

Hi! I just got a Bionic and want to put it in a case so I don't murder it like I did my X. I think I've looked at them all and narrowed it down to the Trident Aegis. Does anyone have any experience with this case?

I really like the look of the Incipio Silicrylic but don't like that all of the ports are not covered and that the notification light is covered. I want something like the Otterbox Commuter but with some color. Is there another that I'm missing?

Trident Aegis case is a great case, maybe one of the best for the Bionic... My son has the red one and after going through a handful of cheap ones claims he will never own a different case for this phone, even wants to order a different color for variety. Another son has the Ballistic Green one for his HTC Incredible 2 and the only thing he doesn't like is the headphone port cover, but it may have been mis-cut slightly as it doesn't stay in place correctly all the time, but the one for the Bionic doesn't have any issues at all.

Several family members and co-workers have used these cases on a variety of phones over the last few years, they are some of the best cases in their class, irregardless of cost... the only drawback (and the reason I have a Seidio case instead of a Trident) is that there is no holster option for the Aegis series (Kraken series has a holster but is a bit bulkier).

I give the Trident Aegis series two thumbs up! Great case, especially for the Bionic!:thumbup:

This case looks super smooth, but I can't use it - I swap batteries all the time.
How difficult is it to remove the case? I had a Body Glove case for my OG Droid that I like except that it was a bitch to take off which was a problem for docking.
Cake walk... 3 seconds to remove and less than 10 to put back on.

Just pop off the plastic frame and silicon comes right off, sometimes putting it back on takes a few extra seconds if the edges of the silicon don't line up quite right initially you have to "pursuade" it a little bit but it still is quick and easy.

Anyone who gets an Aegis case will not be disappointed! This case will not significantly slow down a battery change, it takes longer for the phone to boot than it does to remove and replace this case several times.

I don't know why it's putting the astericks in the address but just type in "droid bionic trident aegis review" into the search box in YouTube and it should be the first to come up. It's a review by daydeal.com.
Look at the full url... it has a nasty four letter word in it, pure coincidence, but probably why it is being converted to stars. ;)

The only other thing about that case is ....

I use the Shell / Holster combo. I'm addicted to Shell / Holster combos. I love being able to put it on my belt and leaving it there until I need it, unobtrusively out of the way and yet extremely handy *AND* easy to hear.
For this I really like the Seidio Surface series of cases... they are very thin and the belt clips are pretty good quality. They don't seem like they would protect very well, but for normal bumps and drops it works better than you would think. Although for similar to Aegis protection, the Seidio Active series is pretty good too.

There is a Seidio Convert series too, but I don't anyone who has used one on any phone, they usually go Otterbox Defender or Trident Kraken at that point.

Those cases cost more than I paid for the Bionic. Dunno what you guys do with your phone that a $5 TPU eBay case doesn't protect equally as well. Oh well, different strokes... :)
LOL... Yeah, until you have to replace it without a warranty or insurance. Then a $20-$30 case makes a whole lot more sense. Once you get a quality case (irregardless of price) and it does it's job you will understand.

If I didn't have an Otterbox Defender, I am sure my work Rezound would have been destroyed within a week... Day 2 it was dropped from the top of a 12' step ladder to a concrete floor, bounced once and the phone was perfect, the case had one tiny little scuff in the corner. In around the 8 months I have have had, the phone has been dropped dozens of times from heights over 8' off the ground, gotten splashed on many times, dropped, kicked (accidentally), thrown (purposely), had stuff dropped on it, knocked across the room, etc. And the phone itself is still in like new condition, the case is still in excellent condition, although I have had to have the belt holster replaced twice because the clip broke off when something snagged it and sent my Rez flying, and Otterbox replaced it twice, no questions asked, had it in two days both times.

Owned my phone since day 1 (8 Sept 2011 @ 12:35). I only use the VZW Shell / Holster combo. Even that $5 TPU is too much for me.

To each his/her own. I've had mine a year and never had a replacement. Same with my OG DROID (also bougt day 1, 6 Nov 2009), with which I also only use(d) the Shell / Holster combo. I still have that same OG DROID too.

Diff'rent Strokes for different folks....
