Help AT&T Inspire 4G on Consumer Cellular?

So I'm trying to configure the mobile web portion of my Inspire 4G to work with the Consumer Cellular network (no-contract carrier that piggy-backs on AT&T towers).

From Consumer, I got the following guidelines:

my carrier said:
MMS PROXY ADDRESS: proxy.mvno.ccmobileweb.com
MMS PROXY PORT: 80
MMS PROXY PUSH: disabled
MMS AUTHENTICATION: Secure
USERNAME (CSD/GPRS): blank
GPRS ACCESS POINT: att.mvno
MMS HOMEPAGE: http://mmsc.cingular.com
WEB PROXY ADDRESS: blank
WEB PROXY PORT: blank
WEB PROXY PUSH: enabled
WEB AUTHENTICATION: Secure
WEB USERNAME (CSD/GPRS): blank
GPRS ACCESS POINT: att.mvno
WEB HOMEPAGE: http://mmsc.cingular.com

But when I go to set up a new Mobile Network Access Point, I get the following options:

my phone said:
NAME
APN
PROXY
PORT
USERNAME
PASSWORD
SERVER
MMSC
MMS PROXY
MMS PORT
MMS PROTOCOL
MCC
MNC
AUTHENTICATION TYPE
APN TYPE

and I'm not sure which carrier settings go in which phone places.

Help?
Thanks,
Noob.

I just got the Atrix 4G Monday. I've been fiddling with the settings and trying to use the web and send a picture to a friend until I got them to work. Web access was actually pretty easy, and eventually my friend told me that a picture finally went through. Here are the settings I have:

Web
Name: Consumer Cellular (I believe this field actually can be whatever)
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.ccmobileweb.com
Port: 80
Username: (not set)
Password: (not set)
Server: (not set)
MMSC: (not set)
MMS Proxy: (not set)
MMS port: (not set)
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: default, supl, agps, fota, dun
APN protocol: IPv4

MMS
Name: Comsumer Cellular MMS (Again, probably can be anything)
APN: att.mvno
Proxy: proxy.mvno.ccmobileweb.com
Port: 80
Username: (not set)
Password: (not set)
Server: (not set)
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS proxy: proxy.mvno.ccmobileweb.com
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: PAP
APN type: mms
APN protocol: IPv4

Where there is "(not set)" the "Less than" and "Greater than" are actually used on the phone, but the site is confusing them for HTML tags. Also "(not set)" means the field is null (nothing in it); it's just what show in the settings when you view them.

I hope this help you and anyone else that wants to use their own Android phone.

Edit: Updated APN settings to reflect better compatible setting I've found, notably that MMS settings shouldn't be set in the Web settings. I've also added some settings in "APN Type."

Hey Garst,
this works perfectly. Been searching the web and this is the best instruction so far. For reference I have a HTX One X - I had to cut the standard SIM to fit into the micro SIM slot. I went to settings, clicked on the mobile icon, clicked Access Point Names, add entries according to Garst instructions by clicking on an icon far upper right, "menu" choose New APN, once added, click menu again to save. To reset turn off mobile and it works perfectly now! thanks again.

Hi Garst and all. Thanks for info on configuring Android for Consumer Cellular. I also have an Moto Atrix 4G and have tried to configure a new APN for Consumer Cellular (using a SIM from CC). Similar settings to those from Garst above (not sure if they were identical). No luck yet on data service and need working phone, so now using that number on a Moto Bravo (with new SIM) that I bought from CC. Ordered additional SIM (& number) from CC to experiment with on the Atrix 4G. Will try Garst's settings exactly.

Here's a question. When you buy an "unlocked" AT&T phone (e.g., from an Amazon seller), how unlocked is it really? Is there something additionally that you need to verify or do to be sure the phone is unlocked "enough" that you can configure it for Consumer Cellular? The support person I talked to at CC thought this might be the case, but they do not support phones that they do not sell. Great forum, and thanks.

Success! and Thanks! My Moto Atrix 4G came with other APNs configured for AT&T and Cingular. I deleted them, leaving only the ConsumerCellular APN that I created according to Garst's specs. Now everything works fine. Previously with the other APNs present, even though I had selected the ConsumerCellular APN radio button, the data would not work.

I too have the HTC One X but these settings did not work for me. I even tried resetting the phone by turning it off then back on. Any suggestions?
