Is it only me who noticed that samsung haven't included polaris office or the video maker on the note 2 !!!!
This is the first flagship device from samsung without document viewer / editor and without the famous video maker app.
I have no idea why samsung decided so???? are they playing cheap now???? Does anyone know why???

This is a long story, you may have some insight by seing this video

Samsung, What Did We Do to Make You Hate Us? - YouTube
Description:
According to most reports, Samsung has almost 45 to 50 percent of the Android phone market. Being the largest Android phone device creator has it benefits. Samsung has often cooperated with developers and we have created a great relationship with them. This relationship has created many great results. However, there seems to be a growing apart in our relationship lately.

XDA Developer TV Producer azrienoch calls Samsung out. Azrienoch talks about Samsung's past and gives them recommendations. What do developers and enthusiasts like to do with their phones? What is the point of open source software? To find out azrienoch's answers to these questions, check out this video.

Drex - oh nothing as of yet , just wondering if it were not included that perhaps it was not possible. Am an android noob as I have a 3GS *spits* that I will be rid of soon.

No worries. For Microsoft office docs, try quick office, documents to go, office suite. Quick office was bought by Google fairly recently.

There are a bunch of reviews on video editing apps, but I've never really needed it, so never really looked into it in more detail.

Polaris Office is likely to be a free download from Samsung apps, they did the same thing with the S3 (presumably to lighten the device up a bit in terms of pre-loaded software, while retaining the option to have it for users who need it). I will check my grey Note 2 now and see...

EDIT: Yep, free download from S-Suggest. Video Editor I did not see. May come later (Polaris Office only appeared in Samsung apps for the S3 after a couple of firmware updates). For reference I'm on the LJ1 build - the update with multi-screen support.

Hi. I am new on the forum with my new N2. No, it was not only you. I was also frustrated about them removing the nice stock ToDo and integrating it into S-Planner, and replacing simple Notes with complex one designed for S-Pen.
Polaris office is by far the best office app, and is available on Samsung Apps. As an alternative I would recommend KingSoft Office. Docs To Go and Quick Office are crap though cost good money.
For video editing go for AndroVid. Very simple and efficient.

Hi everyone. I'm new to android, I just actually got my note 2 a week ago. AT&T said I have 2 wks to try it out and decide if I return it or keep it. First I have the Polaris office. But surprisingly my note 2 has no videomaker, you know that app like the iMovie because I like to create movies on my phone. I scoured the play store but there is no app that is even close to what the iMovie can do. I also don't know where to buy MUSIC VIDEOS I can't find them anywhere in the playstore unlike in iTunes it is all there music, movies, and music videos all in one place. Please help me figure these out before I decide to return my note 2 and just get iphone 5 instead. Thank you so much.

I dunno. Maybe some providers didn't add it? Mine has it on my Note 2 (although, I just use Quick Office Pro, since I got it free from Amazon app store on the daily app deal a while back). Quick Office Pro was purchased by Google, so seemed like the best one to choose going forward (even though I have all the top office apps that I got for free through Amazon...LOL).

You can download all of the missing apps from the Samsung App Store.

Sadly the AT&T Note 2 does not come with a Samsung App store.

It also does not come with "S Suggest"

(it does come with Polaris Office though)

I have tried to locate and install both Samsung App store and S Suggest on my AT&T Note2 , finally was able to locate an apk file for "S Suggest" and installed that, which then installed "Samsung Apps"

but anytime I attempt to launch Samsung Apps - all i get is
"
Error

Unable to Launch Application

"

So apparently AT&T does not want their Note 2 customers to access the Samsung App store.

"S Suggest" - must be similar to Samsung Apps - ( wouldnt know since I can not launch Samsung Apps ) , but many free apps displayed for download in "S Suggest" are linked directly to the "Samsung Apps" application for the APK file download.

But its a big circular dead end on my AT%T Note 2 - which frankly is nothing like I expected, every day reveals more how this particular Note2 version is very crippled with its stock AT&T ROM

In fact after hanging out here on Phandroid Note2 Forum these past 6 weeks, and now entering my 2nd week of AT&T Note 2 ownership, it becomes very apparent why the XDA forums have separate Note 2 forums for each carriers version of the phone.

AT&T Note2 Forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1870

Sprint Note2 Forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1891

etc, etc
http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php

In a nutshell, I find it rather useless for anyone in the UK to recommend a working solution for a problem on my crippled by design USA AT&T SG-I317 phone.

Its chalk and cheese

http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2/645075-usa-carrier-os-fragmentation.html

Remember the AT&T Note 2 SG-I317 is missing ALL THE FOLLOWING!

* No Group Shot Camera mode - with the ability to change faces.

* No Mobile data toggle

* No Blocking mode toggle.

and

* No Screen Recorder

* No MultiView

* No "free 50GB Dropbox account'

* No Samsung Apps Store.

This is not the phone I thought I ordered.

But thankfully progress is being made with custom ROMS

When I was heavily instead in the *i* I often bought music videos. Til this day I don't know why since most of them were on YouTube anyway.

Hopefully this will come as an update. As far as the 50GB free dropbox, I believe AT&T and Verizon began saying No with the S3. Not certain what other phones also didn't get it. If I recall correctly, screen recorder not being included could be due to U.S. legalities so it's not just the AT&T version affected by this.

Given that your request has little to do with the original post, you may have better success in the General Android threads...however if the answers are not coming quickly enough, try a Google search.

After several years on this forum, there hasn't been much discussion on "buying music videos" however the Google Play store would be the first place to look.
