T-mobile 4G coming soon!!?

well, let me ask you this:

Unlimited Wireless Service - MetroPCS

what do you take "upon completion of the combination" to mean?

No Disrespect, but you apparently know nothing about corporate mergers. They always say the two entities will be separate, but in the end the larger one ends up consuming the smaller one. Metropcs will disappear with in the next few years. Once the merger havens I'll be dropping my service. I refuse to ever go back to T-mobile.

really?

seems like people are making the assumption that because CDMA will be shut down that metroPCS will close its doors. metro were planning on doing this anyway to make way for voLTE. were they planning their own demise as a company?

T-mobile will own metro in the same way sprint owns boost and virgin. we share spectrum and we get their phones. they run contract while we run non contract. the only thing that disappears is CDMA and metro position as a independent company.

Actually Boost gets their own phones. They don't have access to Sprint phones, only their antennas.

I'm going off Metro's official announcement.

"However, until the transaction is complete, MetroPCS and T-Mobile will be, and continue to operate as, independent companies."

then this

"According to the Wall Street Journal, both networks will keep running until the end of 2015, when the MetroPCS network will be shut down. That means MetroPCS consumers won’t have to rush out and get a new phone any time soon. And when customers do have to buy a new phone, they will be automatically moved over to T-Mobile’s network."

But honestly it doesn't matter. Got a long time till anything happens so A LOT could and will prolly change.

Think how far phones have came since we bought the LG Esteem last year. In the time it takes for the merger to happen the next great phone will have came and gone.

Oh yeah for sure.

I've never been one to buy phones when they release mainly because it only takes a short time before the price drops. So its safe to say I'll sell my Nexus in a year, get the one that's about to come out, get the one after that and around that time the merger will be fully completed and who knows, i might end up back on Mpcs by then. haha

Patiently waiting to see what T -Mobile 4G LTE network is all about as it sounds promising, but I could care less about they're fake, wannabe 4G network they have been and are currently promoting.

I really dont understand your thought process on this. Yes, LTE is able to produce fast and much higher speeds and is obviously the "prestige" but if your getting 1-3Mbps of LTE vs 8-10 Mbps of HSPA, then obviously HSPA is the faster service within that specific area. Speeds are speeds it's just that one is ABLE to be faster than the other. There's no difference in 5Mbps of LTE and 5Mbps of HSPA. It's the same speed. Coverage for those speeds now is a different story.

Now a BIG difference between say 5Mbps LTE vs. 5Mbps HSPA is battery consumption. LTE uses up a lot more battery than non LTE radios even at producing the same speeds. Even 5Mbps LTE uses more battery than 10Mbps HSPA. So in turn you have double the 4G speeds with less the consumption of battery.

But being that LTE can produce faster top end speeds than any other non lte radio, it will become the standard.

Tmob is a publicly-traded company with downward numbers and this close to either going down or getting sold by its parent-- it would be suicide to lose metro customers...their share price is dependent on increasing numbers.
And guess which is the industry segment increasing customers? Hint, it ain't postpaid.
We will always get taken care of, so please stop worrying people.

Now, switch TMob for any other large carrier and i would too be shi++ing bricks.

It's all good.

I think this merger is going to be a bad thing for metropcs users.

You could be right.

With no Metro-less competition.

And will a corporation spend all that money just to offer us the same low cost Plans and service?

Hopefully yes- but the Merger announcement just as Metro offers Motion 4G and the Galaxy S3 and the great 4G plans makes no sense to me for Metro expansion and may not be in the best interest of the Metro Brand and it's customers and Dealers and Employees since it raises doubts.

I like Metro and hope it grows and continues but wonder......

That's what confused me. About to launch a flash ship device and then the signing of the merge happens. Idk. I wish they would just fully reveal their real intentions and plans but i guess any thing and everything could change overnight which would be a logical reason not to i suppose.

We'll know soon enough. Our makes me wonder though when metro and tmob employees tell you to hold off buying the s3. 500 and something dollar phone and they tell their customers to wait. Lol. Makes you wonder.

nothing is going to happen to metro's CDMA network until 2015. if you want the S3, go get it. by 2015 the galaxy S6 will be out and you wont be able to sell your S3 for more than $100 whether the merger happened or not. the only reason i've changed my mind in getting the S3 is because this merger means i might be able to get the s4 or the optimus G on metro through tmobile when the merger is final. their are small rumors that the optimus G was coming to metro regardless.

those who are locked in to their current plans will more than likely be grandfathered. the $55 promo is just that, a promo. while it is totally open ended i doubt they're gonna have this plan by the time this merger actually happens but who knows, they're still running the $25 dumbphone plan.

tmobile owns metro. a metro sale is a tmobile profit. it only benefits tmobile to keep metro's plans as attractive as they have been.

I am unclear here.

For example, I hear about some who are on a $60 plan with unlimited Rhapsody that they still have though the plan isn't offered (?) anymore to new members.

If they ended the $55 "Promo", would everyone on it go to some other plan the next month no matter what? (ie; if for example we heard the $55 plan was ending a couple months before my Verizon contract was up that it wouldn't do me any good to get on the $55 plan while I still could?)

I don't understand. Sorry.

being grandfathered means you ratain the plan you had with the same rates and services even if the plan is no longer offered.

i was initially on the $60 no limit all plan with metrostudio(bad choice, Mstudio sux). metro raised the price of the no limit all plan to $70 and the $60 plan became 5GB 4G. i continued to have no limit all at $60 despite the change in rate plans.

if i had switched my plan i would not be able to go back $60 no limit all as that plan was gone. i would have to pay $70 for no limit all.

Does being a "Promo" plan mean the $55 Unl data plan is Less Likely to be grandfathered in or is that just a guess?

Bruce in Ocala, FL

"promo" simply means the plan will be available for a limited time determined by the company. once you sign up to the plan you're locked in and will be on said plan for as long as you have your account, whether the plan is still available or not.
