Factory reset is probably your best bet right now. Get a backup app like MyBackup and back up your data. That will minimize the pain of doing the factory data reset.

I am considering buying a 700T. I bought my daughter a 300, and she upgraded to JB in August with no issues.

A factory reset is often necessary after a version upgrade to clear up problems like this, unfortunate, but true.

Sporttrac, I personally have had no problem with mine after the upgrade, and am seeing relatively few problems listed here. I'd suggest getting the 700, doing the upgrade to JB, doing a factory reset and THEN do all the little stuff to set it up to make it 'yours'. That way the factory reset after the update to JB won't be as much of a hassle as it is to those folks who've had the device for a while and don't want to 'start over'.

I decided to downgrade because I could not achieve root. After the initial OTA JB update was able to restore it using Voodo OTA rootkeeper but after my manual FW update attempt lost & could not achieve root again. After the downgrade, root worked on the 1st try using this method:

++My downgrade to ICS steps (it may be overkill but worked for me):

1.Backup everything from tablets internal SD (data-photos..etc) (either use an app or drag & drop connected to a computer. Remove external SD card.

2.Do a wipe data:
Start with PowerOn+VolumeDown
Hit VolumeUp to get the 'wipe data' selection.

3.After that, went into tablet (Jelly Bean is still loaded at this point) and did a factory restore. (Settings\backup-reset\factory data reset), after this JB was still loaded.

4. Get the ICS firmware at Asus site link below: search on the page for "V9.4.5.30 Only for US SKU" double-check the SKU for your TF700 in Settings\About\Build number; mine is "US" there's US\TW\WW to choose from.

4a. Take the US SKU recovery file for 9.4.5.30, extracted the inner zip file

4b.Rename extracted file to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip - (needs the .zip extension)

4c.Put this on the microSD card (IMPORTANT: put this on the micro SD card ALL BY ITSELF, MAKE SURE THERE IS NO OTHER FOLDER OR FILE ON THE SDCARD OR IT WILL NOT WORK!) insert microSD card in TF700T

5. Start with pressing PowerOn+VolumeDown\choose RCK\Hit VolumeUp to choose the RCK selection\it will take 10-15 minutes to complete, be patient.

I'm suppressing the OTA JB update daily until I read some good news about it. In the meantime, I'm rock-solid stable & very happy with ICS!

thanx, i spend too much time with phones, that i keep forgetting to look this stuff up for the tablet. i do need to root it at some point. looking in to this now.

BTW for those of you already rooted before this JB update, you're likely unrooted. But as long as the bootloader is unlocked and you have a custom recovery, you can flash any rooted ROM (including stock JB) and have root again. Just make sure that the version of your recovery is one that supports JB.

Also, with a custom recovery, you have many types of wipes to try, including cache and dalvik cache. Many times, just clearing these partitions will clear up glitches from an update. Worst case scenario, you do the factory data reset, which wipes those 2 partitions as well as the /data partition. Most of the time, a factory data reset will resolve all issues.

I did a factory reset after getting JB. And because I had checked the 'backup my device with google' option during initial setup, I found all my apps redownloading automatically after the reset. So in the end, I didn't really have to spend much time afterwards getting it back to my old state.

I had this happen to my TF300 because the day I received it, the OTA update started. Then I started having random reboots, tried the 3 reset trick, etc. I sent it back as it was 1 week old and upgraded to the TF700 and did not allow the JB update to happen just to be safe. Then I came here to find any news before updating. After reading this post I will wait to update. reelpirate if your unit is new you can return it for another and then hold off on the update. I love the TF700 with ICS and can wait for the update. Thanks for the info.
