I just did the same thing. Carphone Warehouse. Hello Desire, goodbye Hero :(

So how much better is it than the Hero?

Good question. It looks better. It's more pocket friendly as it's much slimmer. The screen is fantastic, and it is quicker.

There are things I don't like at the moment though. I thought I'd like the power button where they'd relocated it, but I preferred it where it is on the Hero. It's bigger and harder for me to hold and operate with one hand. The screen is a fingerprint magnet, and I'm a bit wary about battery life.

Other than that it's great :)

Not had the Hero long, got it when I renewed my contract with Orange. If I'd have known the new phones were coming out not long after, I could've waited till then.

Never mind, the Hero is great and does everything I want it to for now and I'm happy with it, I have no wish for one of these new flashy phones.

As you can see, I lie like a cheap carpet !!!!!

Don't turn it on yet Anthony1, its hard but make sure its fully charged before you press the power button, you'll get much better battery life in the long run!! Its killing me to watch it charge tho, goreous phone and screen, so thin and light.

Not true actually. They make you do that with all phones but it's really just a hold over from the old Nickel based phones of a few years ago. Modern Lithium-Ion batteries don't need the initial 'priming charge' you can start using them pretty mjuch as soon as the first charge is about 40% or higher.

I've never given any of the Li-Ion batteries in any of my phones the initial few hours recommended and I've never had any battery issues.

Was using my Desire after about 1/2 hour on charge, it's fine :)

Charging lithium-ion batteries
