Any new phone rumors for Sprint?

Having a glass back just means better chance of damaging the phone if dropped. Take the iPhone for instance. I love the build of the sgs3. Sure, it's got a plastic feel to it, but the device can take a lot more beating than most other phones on the market. It's lighter and more shock absorbent than glass.

I agree plastic will be more shock absorbant... and in terms of damaging yes plastic is better but in terms of aesthetics and feel in the hand, I prefer glass... or even a more solid feel like a rubberized/textured back

What would be such a huge shock, but I think would get Sprint more new customers, would be an announcement that the last LTE device to be released for the year would be the Asus padfone 2.

I'd be a little upset if they did release the padfone 2 late, without announcing, simply because the Note 2 is pretty much my choice at this point, but I'd hold out for the padfone 2, if it came out on Sprint. The Padfone 2 event is next week, so we'll see if there is any mention of US release.

Sprints already going to make a killing on the phone. Having the Note 10.1 in their arsenal would rake in even more money. I think that would've been a win/win for customers and Sprint.

They may be revealing the zte phone that was leaked in an ad a while back. That's supposed to be released this weekend according to that ad. For those that aren't familiar with it, it's on my lte list a couple pages back.

Note 10.1 would've sold more for sure, but i don't think I'll ever buy a carrier specific tablet, unless I buy it off contract and without activation requirements. The plans are ridiculously priced for tablets. Way better just paying for hotspot fee and wirelesslys tethering a tablet off a smartphone using unlimited data vs. paying for the tablet plan.

I agree to a certain extent about the padfone 2, but the thing that would prevent carriers from bringing this over is primarily because they can't charge for the tablet plan. That's what i personally love about the Padfone 2. A person could use a tablet while in an office all day, but still be able to receive phone calls from the same device. This concept should be a big seller for business oriented folks.

Yup. Sprint and t-mobile are in a position that, if they offered the padfone 2, it'd be game changing. And especially if they offer a subsidized price that'll be worth it to consumers, unlike the high prices that Motorola offered for the now defunct lapdock.

If the padfone 2, phone only, were offered at an upgrade price of 199.99, but for an additional $100 offered the tablet dock and keyboard as added accessories ...I believe the padfone 2 would sell like hotcakes. If you compared, buying a high end cell phone + the least expensive of the 10 inch tablets available, it'd be a steal of a price. Then, add the keyboard dock makes it even better.

But, back to the point dan and i mentioned...carriers would make more money not offering it. I do feel like it'd be more popular than most would think, as long as it were sold and marketed properly.

Okay, so here's the most definitive confirmation of the storage on the Optimus G:

So, ATT went the smart route with 16gb internal / micro SD slot.

Sprint opted to keep the phone exactly as the Korean version with 32gb / no micro SD slot.

Other than that, no removable battery for either. Glad the actual carrier models were confirmed early, so that I could have my mind set on my final 1 year upgrade device (Note 2 is the winner).

Going back a few posts, but yeah, i would love the Note 10.1 on Sprint. I only wish Samsung would have made the internal antenna component much like what Lenovo did with the Thinkpad and have it as a card add on. This way you can take any wifi version and just simply open it up and insert a 3G/4G/LTE card.

But what i would really love to see is Sprint just sell Wifi Tablets and laptops and make a Plug-in-connect Tri-Mode USB that can be used with Android tablets (using a adapter connector of course) also.

That's a very good question and the first point you're making is actually #1 on the "backfire" list. The thing is, Sony has something that Samsung also has and that's a leg up when it comes to other electronics (e.g. TV's, Home Theater Equipment, Portable Audio Equipment, etc.). Even though the divisions are completely different, Sony does have a "leg up" on all of the mobile industry competition because they have Entertainment Divisions that they could tap into, that would help "sell" their products. Rather than say all the things that could "backfire" on Sony with these devices, I'd rather focus on the 1 area that no other OEM can really tap into, without necessarily costing an excessive amount due to the need to license content. Sony has a plethora of Entertainment divisions that, without a doubt, they should be integrating into their mobile phone offerings. We're talking movies, video games, TV shows, you name it. No other mobile phone OEM has access to this type of content without having to license out the content from a 3rd party. If Sony approaches it correctly, they'd basically be re-inventing the Watchman (for those of you that aren't old enough to remember, Sony basically invented portable TV's Sony Watchman - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) and it's the perfect time for them to do it.

Of course, this all depends on their being able to provide the hardware inside the phone that could handle the amount of content that they have at their disposal, under the Sony umbrella.

I am kinda bummed out, my Evo 4g is going tits up and I need to get it replaced. I wouldn't have replace it unless something like this happened, as I have been underwhelmed with the new phones.

I played with the IIs and meh, I am not a fan of Samsung smart phones, I like HTC but the EVO LTE with a non replaceable battery is a deal killer so I am kinda hosed for a new phone. I was kinda hoping that one of the new Nexus One X+ might make it's way to Sprint.

There hasn't been any talk of Sprint offering the LG Nexus 4. In fact, there hasn't been any direct carrier mention, so my feeling is that it'll be offered as an unlocked, sim free version through the Google Play store, which would mean it will only work on GSM providers.

Optimus G has more internal storage on the Sprint version and up to the same max on the ATT version (except the ATT version also has a microSD slot).

And no, the LG Nexus 4 has a different body shape than the Optimus G.
