Hi, I'm looking for some help here with an issue my wife and I both have with our phones. My wife and I are the Proud owners of the Samsung Galaxy S2 phones. I have the Data plan and she does not. In the past 2 months or maybe since the begining of Sept. we both are haiving the same thing happen. When making or receiving calls (both in Wifi and T-mobile networks) we can't hear the person on the other end. We have to hang up and call them back (with success) on the cell or house phone. They let us know, they can hear us fine but we can't hear them.

This happens on all Landlines and Cell lines that we call or get call to our cell. I have contacted T-Mobile and they can't find anything on their end. I have done a Factory Reset on Mine and it still happens.

2 weeks ago, some weird things were happening to both our phones on the same day. with this being one of them. I plugged my phone into Samsung Kies and there was a Device Firmware update. So I updated to the ANDROID VERSION: 4.0.4 BASEBAND: T989UVLH1, and after update, I Reset phone to Factory Reset Settings and that seemed to help with alot of the freezing we had. But the phone call issues still happen.

I also have noticed, that now we periodically loose the Network connection. I can be sitting on the couch with a 100% Wifi coverage and not move an inch. I would dop my connection and the call and still have wifi coverage.I will also contact Samsung to see if it has something to do with any patches or updates. But for now, I am lost for ideas.

I was wondering if anyone else is having a similar issue or the same issue..or id anyone has a fix for this?

My wife and I have this same problem and it is driving me nuts. After researching it for a couple of weeks, I finally relectantly decided to flash her phome back to ICS 4.0.3 last night, while leaving my phone on 4.0.4. So far today I have had the same problem you describe happen to my phone 3 times, while hers has been fine so far. Still a little early to know for sure if that is the fix, but I'll let you know...

This is the thread that finally made me decide to try to go back to 4.0.3, it seems that the 4.0.4 update switched the radio from version LE1 to LH1 and the LH1 version is possibly the source of the call problems we are having:

Hmmm....this is interesting...I was experiencing this issue before I upgraded to 4.0.4 and I just might see it more so now in 4.0.4. I was thinking of going backwards to Gingerbread, using Odin5, but I don't know if this is considered Rooting or not. It seemed that using GingerBread, EVERYTHING worked flawlessly...and now, in ICS...not so....

It isn't rooting, but you would be 'tampering' with the OS so it probably would technically void your warranty. On the other hand, there's no way for anyone to know because you still have the official OS.

if you haven't seen it, I made a guide for using Odin if you need it.

And welcome to the forum tbonus. :)

I am looking at it now and downloading what I need to do....That post is Great!! I guess I shouldn't be too worried about the warranty, as I have the insurance...so if I lose my phone or it get's broken/damaged, I'll just have to pay $150.00 (or hopefully cheaper) for a replacement... From what the TM customer Service Rep told me...

Is this reversible? Like can I then upgrade back to 4.0.4 if need be?

Thank you!
...and thank you for the guide, that happens to be the one I used last night... very helpful, thanks. Except I see that you now added the link for 4.0.3 and removed the comment about "why would you want to..." If only I had waited 24 hours I wouldn't have had to go on a wild goose chase for 4.0.3 stock! :)

Getting ready to do my phone now.... it's driving me nuts.

I'll report back with an update sometime soon.

Back to the Atmazzz guide for me!

EDIT: I just noticed that you linked the hotfile download of 4.0.3... I was not able to get that one to work due to a corrupt archive: it wouldnt decompress. I downloaded it twice with the same result. Maybe someone else can try to decompress it to verify? Anyway, FYI, I used this one:

Hi tbonus. Sorry for the trouble. I downloaded it and had the same problem. SamMobile has links for all the stock roms. They have 2 for 4.0.3 and obviously I picked the wrong one. The guide has been updated. And yes, I added 4.0.3 after I saw you talking about it. :D I wouldn't want it but I added it in case someone else does.

Hey Atamazzz, you wouldn't happen to know/remember which version had/has that wifi calling patch, do you?

You're welcome. :) Let me know if you have any problems.

Hey, I am getting ready to make the plunge... I plan on going with the UVLDE version which is the one after the Main one. Is it better to install the main one, then upgrade (if you will) the second one? or are they cumulitive whereas, the second one will be enough?

Well I did it....Successfully...However, that WiFi calling isn't here...I'm restarting my phone and see if it comes back....otherwise....I'll start from the beginning and gradually go up a few ROM's Till I get it back....Weird...

I'm sure I read WiFi calling is in that update. I think you have to set up Wi-Fi calling 911 address.

Yeah...I agree..but it keeps telling me I'm not connected...I put my WiFi password in and its not working....I'm downloading this version now: T989UVKL1 ## T989UVKL1, which the only difference is the ## signs...I remember them rolling out that update/patch sometime around December...or maybe it was later? It might be T989UVLDE...not sure...
