Anyone talked to the moderators for the official thread? They said the were only closing it for one hour and the deadline has passed.

Edit by twospirits: topic is still in discussion, the original will be closed for the night until the admin can review our notes. For the time being you can use this thread, but I will be deleting any confrontational posts etc.

So, like most of you, I have both e-mailed Verizon and dropped into various stores in a vain attempt to gather intel.

At one store I met a guy who was just as excited as us about the Incredible, but had no official info. He was hoping I knew some things that he didn't. He says he checks the tech blogs every couple of hours hoping for some news.

Via e-mail I continue to get the canned responses as all of you, with the exception of one CSR who advised me to sign up my e-mail on the google.com/phone link for faster news on the NeXus One release.

I've even tried being charming and clever (on like my 5th reply to their canned responses I said "What's one little unofficial release date between friends?" I then gave them my home phone number and said "No caller ID on this line, just call it, mask your voice, and give me a date, a number, anything." Their reply to that basically amounted to "go to hell".

So, it's time for a new tactic. I call it the "Righteous Indignation" play. Here's a copy of my most recent e-mail:

"Dear Sir or Madaam,

(Before you begin reading I'll advise you to just escalate this to someone who can give me something other than a canned answer... thanks.)

How dare you! Seriously, how arrogant does Verizon need to be to just rest on your laurels and your "superior" network and allow, not just one, but two MASSIVE wireless trade shows go by without announcing any new smartphones? How can you just sit there while every other US carrier uses these events to make the world look their way? AT&T gets the HTC Desire, T-Mobile gets the HTC HD2, Sprint gets the incredible HTC EVO 4G, and what does Verizon get? Skype... yippee...

What the heck are you thinking? Seriously, what is your business plan exactly? I really though you guys were turning over a new leaf and heading in the right direction when you announced the Droids, but here we are 6 months later and you are at the back of the pack again when it comes to good hardwear. My contract is up in May, and right now you guys are giving me exactly zero reasons to stay.

Are you guys in this game or not? Because you sure don't seem like you're playing to win..."

So, what do you think? Think it will work? No, probably not. But it sure did make me feel better! :D

I really thinnk a thread titled ***Random/Incredible Thread*** needs to be started by one of the fixtures of the previous thread. Something with a title that is clear it is by no mean sanything other than a random thread where EVERYTHING will be discussed including the Incredible.

It'll still most likely become the best resource to find Incredible info but it'll hopely be under less scrutiny from everyone. Ther won't be anyone wanting it to be "On Topic" because there will be not set topic.

Someone we all know needs to start it like Stevens, Nashdroid, Anonimac, Montana, Kappy (If their P.O.'s allow it) and we'll all follow like happy grumpy sheep. I think breaking all discussions into many smaller threads, information will get lost. Even if we have to sift through a long thread if you're in a hurry to find any follow that Thanked Posts. And if your not sit back and enjoy the conversation.

Just my 2 cents...

Edit: I just fear this thread will eventually be uder the same scrutiny as the "Official" thread becasue it's still a thread that says it's about the Incredible.

I'm just a lurker and have contributed absolutely no scoops or new info to this forum as I have no android expertise yet (I too am waiting for the Incredible to replace my BB Curve). However, I have been on more message boards than I care to admit and have run and continue to run some of my own.

So many of the posts on that huge thread were at best stupid and unnecessary in any thread. To actually have them all clogging up the 'official' thread that was stickied to the top was horrific. The only thing saving the thread was the amazing work of the OP to keep the first post updated. Still doesn't excuse 3 pages/day of "can't wait for this phone". A lot of people want to scroll through the actual rumors too but to sift through 5 pages of crap to see the rumor of the day got to be too much after a while. The thread became totally useless.

No reason to not have an 'HTC incredible chat thread' that the daily chatters could use and even quote posts from the official thread into the chat thread to launch off topic discussions on them. For them to get all butt hurt that the mods rightfully closed the thread the first time did nothing to further their cause.

I'm sure that many will slam me for this post but I'm also sure that many many more feel the same way. Thank you to all who contributed some great info in the official thread including many of the chatters who also came up with some quality intel before enthusiasm occasionally got the best of them.

We really should rename this thread "The Regulars.... you know who you are"
So people don't come in searching for " unofficial" info and end up fighting with MM again... even though we all know Steven starts everything...;)

The name change might not be a bad idea...

And I second the notion on Steven... How the hell has he not been put on probation??;):p
