I have an icon that has never appeared on the top left of my screen before. Typically when you receive notifications, an icon pops up in this location. You swipe down and it tells you what it is. I have never seen this one before. It is a lower case i with a circle around it and a line drawn through it. Can anyone help me with this or has anyone seen this before? When I swipe down it does not show me anything under Notifications.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

That icon I believe is telling you that you will not get notifications at the moment, as they could be turned off. Have you recently done a software update on your device?

Do me a favor please!

Pull down the notifications panel and slide the big icons on top (wifi, gps, etc), slide to the right and touch the notifications icon to toggle the minus icon.

See if it goes away!

Awesome! Thank you it worked!! Could you also maybe tell me why is it I cannot receive picture messages with my wi-fi turned off? I always have wi-fi off unless I am somewhere it is available. Should I be leaving it on?

Sorry for the late response!

Check to make sure you have mobile data turned on? You need a 3G/4G signal in order to get picture messages.
