It's a global phone (starts singing We Are The World)....chime in if you feel me. :D
Great, now I can't get that song out of my head. :(

Also, (without singing Kumbayah) .
Arrgghh, another song in my head, stop it, stop the madness.

If this guy ^^ is regulating over the Note 2 forum, there's no question I'd keep it the same...just to keep him busy...LOL :p  bro.
Oh no you don't. Me work ahahahahahaha
I'll just hand it to the guides. muwhahahahaha

As for the comment of the old EVO section. yeah, the good ole days. But I feel this section is close too. :) But more on a International scale.

Speaking of which, I get the feeling that the consensus is to keep it as it is, which is okay by me, but the votes are tied at the moment. so strange.

TS out (trying to get these songs out of my head).

I got it, I got it!!!!! For those folks voting and posting using their Note 2s, their votes count TWICE since there is twice the real estate, 2 apps at once, 2 in the name, etc etc.

But wait, please only count votes twice if they are for keeping the forum together. Hehe

Hmmm.. multitasking on this phone is going to be awesome, I bet it can play Kumbayah and We Are The World at the same time. ;)

Just to bring the references into 2012, while sticking with the world theme and also paying tribute to the Great Korean OEM of the Note 2...I'd say we'll all be rocking Gangnam Style with our multi-tasking skills!

Giving you props for this, without a doubt... great reference, world theme, makes you get up and get - Gangnam style, of course - and Korean to boot!

But didja hafta quote me and insinuate I'm old and washed up? LOL
Totally kidding, no offense at all. ;)

Aww, my bad. Definitely didn't mean it like that.

As for the Korean corrolation and tribute, it served a dual purpose because I gotta give support and give props when Asian Americans or Asians have a successful crossover to US popularity. Entertainment in the US is a tough business.

You know, I did fail a bit because I should have kept the Android theme with Eric Schmidt's Gangnam Style

I vote as-is with separated root forums...at least both versions should have typical UI and apks enough so that keeping them together would provide greater support should certain UI/APK issues occur...

Plus it'll be nice having a TRUE global device that I can finally get all these great accessories Europe and Asia always seem overburdened by...and I'd be more than happy to help lighten the load

currently trying to tweet my way to win a Note 2 giveaway by my carrier...but I'm running out of reasons to give as to why i deserve to win :p

i sound so desperate now, lol.

Tweeting takes too long. Cut out the middleman. LOL!!
Go on FB to Samsung's page. Ask them to send you one and proceed to tell them how you've spent your entire life filling your house full of Samsung products like the guy who got a custom GS3.

I voted to keep it as it is for the reasons far more eloquently expressed by previous contributors than I could do.

That said, I sometimes find that in trying to grapple with someone’s problem or seeking out any commonality in multiple posts of similar problems, it would help considerably if one knew their broad location and / or the phone’s OS version. I am sure this aspect will become more relevant with the release of the USA version as well as the introduction of 4G (LTE) in the UK.

So, is it somehow possible to ‘encourage’ new subscribers to give that information and for long time subscribers to update their profile occasionally?

(After all, if someone is really chary of revealing their location they can easily give a very broad geographical area or even obscure abbreviations as some do! )

Ok, so far the consensus in this thread is to keep one main forum and have separate root sections for the Note 2. But I now ask if we need separate root sections? I do not know if the current root process is for all versions or just the international version. (I'll check with other places)

I am hoping that the accessories are universal since there isn't any difference in size or shape among the different versions.

I would like to see them separated.

Why?

If this is anything like the Galaxy Nexus and the VZW / Sprint Galaxy Nexus section then we'll see US LTE variants having completely different issues than the GSM one. (Don't get me started on that...)

For many users that are new to Android it could be tough differentiating the various models like, GSM, TMo, Sprint, Verizon, etc.

To keep this as simple as possible and user friendly for users switching from other operating systems or to those that are completely new to smart phones, we should separate it.

That's just my opinion.

So, what would be the difference between having separate threads (discussing LTE issues) vs. completely separate forums?

Hmmm...If a thread is started that states a provider in the thread title because a person has a specific question regarding that particular model, how would that get confusing?

By the logic of separating the forums, that would look like this:
- ATT
- Verizon
- T-mobile
- Sprint
- UK (International)
- Korean/Asian (International)
- Europe Outside UK (International)

So, that's 7 forums (based on the different versions I can recall). And how many people would there really be posting in all of those separate forums?

If there are general questions about the Wallpaper size or How to use Multi-tasking / pop-up video or Where to purchase batteries or accessories...All of those can be shared with all the different versions, without any hiccups.

And on top of that, once TS puts the FAQ sticky thread up, we can even add specific threads for those different versions. I neither see where the problem would be nor do I see any confusion happening. If someone is having an issue that might be specific to their carrier, but they're not sure, all they have to do is indicate that info on the Title of the thread that they create. What's better, having 1/8 of the room seeing the thread and being able to answer or give their perspective on what the problem might be or a completely full room, where people that might not even be on the same provider might have a solution that proves that the issue isn't due to the carrier, but due to user error or general OS issue or general UI issue. IMO, the general functionalities and physical attributes of the phone far outweigh the differences from provider to provider.

I agree with you but I have to add from personal experience.

I cant count the number of threads/forums I'm on in which someone states they're having an issue with a device which they assume is "carrier" related. 25-100 post will appear in that thread all saying they're having the same problem with the same carrier. Then here comes me who is NOT on that particular carrier but having the same problem nonetheless.

I went on and on saying it's not carrier related; even providing the exact details related to my issue and instead of getting help (and I use the word loosely) I was deemed a troll.....me? a troll??!! because I wasn't poster 101 with a carrier related problem.

THIS is why I hate the same device being divided up into a gazillion different forums.

Sounds to me like the divided forums caused your not getting help to your issue, more-so than the actual problem itself.

I think the Note 2 has an opportunity to change the stigma that phones have to be separated by carrier. Samsung has afforded customers the luxury of forcing the carriers to all carry the same phones, including physical dimensions, in order to create an even better user experience for all.

I'm more than happy to oblige with Samsung's ultimate goal. I'd rather have multiple people to chime in on a SGNote2 thread, rather than 1 or 2.

And there's NO way I want to hop through 7 different sub-forums just to see if there are any other accessories out in the world that I might just like. And especially if one of the providers is having some sort of crazy sale for accessories connected to the device. Why not share that with the entire community, rather than just the sub-forum. An example of that...Verizon recently had a "close-out" sale on the Lapdock 100 compatible with Motorola devices last year. Had someone not seen a thread randomly, none of the Photon members would've known about that sale and tried to get in on the sale when it was available. And Motorola doesn't even have the same exact phones, like many of us are going to be able to experience with the Note 2.
