Lock sleep button no longer works.

I had the same issue recently, my lock sleep button stoped working to lock the screen. I have no idea why it did but it was compleatly random. Search the market for spare parts app, it allows you to "reprogram" the button, it saved me

-------------lol guess I missed the water damage, but to anyone else that reads this post, spare parts, it works

Bump for any ideas?

I just encountered the very same thing today. Power button will not put the phone to sleep. Silent mode, airplane, power off work if I hold the button down. But a simple press to turn off the screen just isn't working. I never had this problem before I was rooted and using custom ROMs. But now that I am, it happens every so often. The only thing I was able to do to fix the issue was to completely wipe the phone and start from scratch again by reflashing the ROM. It has happened on different ROMs and different kernels and all the combinations of both. But never while completely stock, at least not for me. Not sure what option in Spare Parts lets you do the reprogramming of the button. I never saw that option.

Anybody have any fixes or ideas as to why this happens?

Wow, I'm an idiot.
I just messed around with Spare Parts and the "End button behavior" option gives you 4 choices. Nothing; Go to home; Go to sleep; Home, then sleep.
Apparently I selected "Nothing" and then the power button stopped putting the phone to sleep.
I just put it back to "Go to sleep" and bamm! Power button now puts the phone back to sleep.

Just a tip for anyone using this App...check this setting first!

Wow, you just saved me a lot of headache. They really need to update the spare parts app. The sleep\power button on the droid is definately not an "end (red) button" . I would have never though that setting was responsable for that button. For others out there, switching from the bekit to p3droid kernal seems to change this setting so if you're having troubles after switching here's the culprit.

Bwahahahaha I did the exact same thing to my brothers Eris. He and I both thought I had broken his phone cuz the End button would no longer do anything and I had already deleted the Spare Parts app from his phone.

Thank you very much for your post as it got me out of hot water!!!!!

Reinstalled it, changed the setting again to "Go to sleep," then I told him to keep or remove the app. Whewwwww!!! :D
