This is a question I may know the answer to but I will ask anyway....Since the Gnex has internal storage and no SD card, if I back up something and one day it dies, does that make the backup irrelevant at this point or is it still separate from internal memory meaning its inside phone but still a sd card and not removable meaning totally separate(lol, sounds goofy) still?

I think it's just a partition of the overall storage. So if it dies then you wouldn't have a way to access the memory since it's not a card and therefore not accessible.

I could be way off though. If you are worried about something being lost then I'd back it up to a cloud service or to a P.C.

This is correct. It's like one giant internal data partition that can be used however you want.

Well I just asked cause what's the point of me doing a backup with root then if it crashes then its gone and lost thus making my Nandroid useless right lol? Or am I wrong?

When you say crashes do you mean the rom or the whole phone dies?

If you load up a Rom that doesn't run at all, if you go into recovery the Nandroid will still be accesibble.

What helps to visualize it is go into Titanium backup and it will show you how much space is allotted for the actual Rom, Apps, and then also storage.

So just because a Rom crashes it doesn't corrupt the data in the storage area which is where the Nandroid is stored.

But if the phone dies or becomes a brick then you can't get to it.

Nandroids are still your friend.:D

No matter what the situation (for the most part), as long as you can get to recovery, we can troubleshoot to get you back to a bootable state; whether it's something as simple as restoring a nandroid or having to adb pushing a ROM. As I'm sure you're already doing, just remember to make a nand-backup prior to making any changes to your Gnex, in case you don't like those changes, you can restore back to previous state.
