hey there i have had my rugby smart since june 25th.i use it for my work phone. love the phone and its durability. i just checked today to see if it had an update ota and it did. I done the update and everything but is there anyone out there that knows what it fixed? I'm just curious. i noticed it put att uverse tv on my phone and it wont let me uninstall it. thanks for you replies.

well that sucks. actually i never ever do any mods to the system. i don't root or do anything custom to my phones.never have. the only thing i do is download a launcher from the market. i use go launcher. but thats what i was wondering. its my work phone so it dont really matter too much. now on my gs3 red with att i know that jelly bean is coming out soon. And i don't plan on downloading that at all from ota. i like my ics. its good enough for me. so i hope it dont make me update it.

thanks for your reply.

Two questions on this. If I say yes to the update will it ruin my phone since it is rooted? and if it will how do I get the update screen to stop popping up? Thanks!
To follow up for others visiting the thread:
1: The update should gracefully fail if you accidentally run it.
2: The suggestions to freeze / quarantine the updater app are the best way to get the update to stop popping up and not apply. There is a small chance the update won't apply clean and you'll be stuck using my ODIN images to re-flash back to stock.

hey mane idk where to post this but i have a rugby smart and it is rooted when i turn my phone off to go into recovery it goes into recovery but it wont show the menu to pick from can you plz plze help
If you are rebooting into the sock recovery you need to press the menu button once it shows the box and arrow icon. Otherwise it will reboot after awhile. Also, give it a few seconds after the screen dims a little. The menu won't immediately pop up. The volume buttons will navigate and the home button will select.

How long do you let it sit? 5.x and 6.0.1.1 takes a little bit to kick in. If it still doesn't work, reflash the image and try again.
I don't think he talking about the CWR recoveries, this sounds like a stock recovery thing.

Ok I do not see any place to start my own thread. I am a Samsung rugby smart phone user! The reviews on this phone was all wrong. One this phone not all that fast. I guessing it cause of all the crap they load on the phone before you get it. Any of these program will start with AT&T ,cause that my carrier. So I downloaded a program called setcpu in the hope to make my phone a little faster. Well the program does not work ,cause the phone is rooted. Another program I download called sdmaid. And it does not work cause the phone is rooted. I have found all kinds of forums on this subject. But not really in the details to understand how to unroot the Samsunf rugby (smart) I can tell you it is running gingerbread. So could someone please point me in the right way,to unroot my phone.

Thanks I have only had 1 OTA since ive owned the phone didnt notice anything different after it

There were only some mild kernel and other lower-level tweaks made in the 1 OTA that has come through for the device. I did a little digging into it and it appeared very lean from what I was seeing.

If it were larger (>75Mb) I would expect the update to hold something more visible in terms of updates.
