Replacing cracked screen....

In a pleasant melody
So... I finally managed to spider web the screen on my Commando. They have new ones on Ebay for around $20. Here is the problem though, there are two different screens you can get. One as a side connector, and the other has a top connector. How do you know which one to get? Did this change at a certain point? Also, where would I get a tri wing bit to fit the screws on the Commando? Any tips and/or help would be greatly appreciated.

Select manually configure and change the setting from IMAP to POP3

People sure can have some attitude sometimes. The commando forum isn't the most popular and can be slow sometimes. No need to be rude just because you don't get an answer right away. Most people I bet wont have a broken screen and wouldn't know because there is no need for us to take our phone apart yet.

First off, I posted this thread a week ago. Second, I have been on this forum long enough to know that there is no love for the Commando. No big deal. And finally, if these guys and gals around the boards cannot take a little sarcasm they would have said as much. So go put on your big girl panties and take a nap or whatever.

Honestly I'd say go get a new phone. It'll save you the heart ache lol

I am ordering a screen from ebay. They even sell the tri wing drivers. Hopefully I do not fudge it up. Whenever I get the screen and tools, I WILL take pictures of the entire process and post a tutorial for future users.

Well I had to get it replaced twice under warranty for not being able to receive ota updates and whatnot. The last one, I bought used from eBay, had the random reboot problem. All of them seemed to have the problem of not being able to turn on when someone was calling, screen would stay dark, couldn't answer the call. Battery life was great with the Mugen battery. I was really trying hard to like the commando, but then when they pushed the unrootable update, it was over for me. That closed the door for any more advancements on the device, and all they did was push more bloat, not fix any bugs.

You could not be more wrong. The screen on the Commando breaks VERY easily. I barely dropped mine and the screen is shattered. Touch still works.

Most people that have owned this phone for any length of time, and do any sort of work like construction, will find their screen breaks easily.

I agree with the original poster.

The Casio Commando is a MAJOR LEMON and is not a tough phone at all. RIP OFF!

Did you ever get your screen working? Ive managed to crack my screen all to .... however, the phone does still work, and the touch works. It looks cracked all over though. I would like to buy and replace my screen too if it is possible and not too complicated. I would love to see how you did it. Thanks.

Yeah I guess I just read it wrong. Real hard to tell peoples moods over text lol but I completely agree with you on it being a lemon. mine got to where no matter how many times you would do a factory reset it would still glitch. So my wife used her upgrade and got the new phone (bleh) and I got her DROID 3. Which is kind of a lemon. But at least it has root and roms so that I can at least do something about it lol. Heck I even have jelly bean on this thing. Just no camera, but it takes like 30 seconds now to switch roms with SS3 so that's not even a problem anymore.

I ended up breaking it even worse. Hopefully this new version of a the Commando coming out will be a vast improvement.

I will be interested to see how you do with this. My phone is in pieces on my dining room table (figure 1). I would go ahead and buy the screen to do this and wrap it up, EXCEPT for one thing... when I was taking apart the phone, two weird shaped metal pieces (figure 2) just fell out from inside. I don't know where they go because I never saw them in their proper place to begin with. I don't want to spend the money on a screen, spend two more hours putting it together, and have it not work.

Ok, I guess it doesn't like me uploading photos because I haven't posted enough yet...
