Hi all, I am new to smart phones, feel like I have been living in the stone age, anyway, I have a new Stellar and when trying to set up my email, I synced the email to only sync with email in the last week. I am not sure what sync is but assume it needs to be synced to check mail. anyway it keeps trying to load email from over a year ago, I have a couple gigs of email in my gmail account and its trying to download them all on to my phone. I emptied my inbox and archived everything. set the phone to sync mail in the last week and its STILL trying to load emails from the beginning of the year... is there a way to make it stop that? I want it to check for new mail only...

You can try using the settings while in the mail app. If that gets you nowhere, attempt to remove that account then reload it.
I have tried to find settings on the email accounts, one is a wildblue account through gmail, the other is an actual gmail account. both of them do the same thing so assume its the phone. without it being synced it wont load any mail, just spins. if its synced it repeats emails I have deleted off the phone over and over again. these are emails from the beginning of the year that are archived and have already been read. if no way to fix that myself, where would you take it to get it fixed to properly check your email?

When I said to remove the account and reload it, I meant remove the account from the phone then add the account again. Maybe a power cycle in between may help. I am not positive this will fix your problem, but it is worth trying. One thing I don't get is on my phone, it only loads 10 old emails at first, this is normal. To make it load more I have to click on load more. The part I don't get with the issue you are having is that it sounds like all are automatically loading. I use aim and Gmail on this phone and both accounts have a ton of previously read mail and neither email account acts in the manner you are describing

One other option I can think of that I know will work is to use your computer to clean up the inbox. Delete all trash, create folders for the not so trash and leave only the really need in my face emails in the inbox. I know and understand the pain in doing this task would be but I guarantee this option will work 100%. Keep us posted on your efforts as this will help someone down the road.

By the way, welcome to smartphones and more so, welcome to android! Give it some time and you won't know how you lived without it. One day, you may find yourself reading a forum, trying to learn how to do one thing and learn about 10 other things your phone can do! When that happens, you will be hooked and on this forum helping people learn their new phone. Just wait until you learn all about root and what it can do for you.

thanks :) and thats what I did, deleted it off the phone, right now its still deleted, I went and cleaned up the email account, archived and moved all of the emails to another folder, all are marked read. set up the account again, loaded the same emails from March that I deleted using the phone last time. this account is through my SP wildblue.net so I will try going to their forums and checking to see if its a problem with satellite. its my main email so would like to use it but if not able to I wont die. otherwise the phone is cool, lots of bells and whistles. the no flash thing sucks but I have a droid incredible to take pics with on the sd card lol

Have you found a solid solution for your wildblue account yet?
nope, the only thing in their forums I could find was email wont load at all, I gave up for now, I need to take it to a phone genius and have them fix the email app, it also did this with my regular gmail account but cleaning out the box fixed that one. no such luck with the wildblue gmail account.
