What started your Sprint/Android addiction

Ya know, I was thinking today that my life would be much simpler on the phone side if I didn't know anything about them, or didn't care that I have the best. Of course I know there's always going to be a better phone around the corner; however we're in game-changing times with technology, and this next year's crop of phones is going to continue to make our choices more difficult.

Quad core processors with LTE, on-screen multitasking, NFC becoming more widely used, integrated wireless charging, car and home docks that will do just about anything we need them to in terms of connectivity, etc. The list goes on.

When technology move this fast, it usually means it will move even faster in the next couple of years before a stalemate and then another surge in advancements.

I think we're all just going to go broke! :(

But damn, what a way to go broke! :D

The phone that started my "addiction", if you will, was the HTC Mogul. I loved that little brick.

Hope about everyone else? What phone turned you to the dark side?

The phone that really started me on the path to being crazy was the HTC Touch. It got me thinking about features and touch interfaces. The Diamond was my first that got me into xda and root/roms. But it was the HTC Hero that got me into Android and I've been broke ever since, but I dont think its the dark side. Lol

What turned me to the dark side was Helio getting bought out by Virgin and insisting that I could not use my texting/emailing powerhouse of a feature phone, the Ocean. And that I had to go to Sprint.

Then came the Moment because I just wanted plain Android. After three replacements to get one that actually worked, my Moment WAS the dark side! :D

The OG EVO started my addiction. To this day I still regard that phone as one of the best ever. I still use it sometimes as my backup phone.

Yep. I finally got a smoker deal on a trade for my Evo in June, but it gave me two solid years of great use.

Had to learn the tech to make it work the way I wanted. End of discussion, I've been an addict ever since.

Reminds me of this golden oldie - http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/156326-i-have-evo-addiction.html

So here's the 12 step program:

1. Everyone should have an Evo.

2 thru 12: Yeah. I got nothing.

wow.. that was just like me..

started with HTC touch...
got the Diamond.. and started to use a tethering app.
moved to the Hero and wanted to keep tethering.. so had to learn about rooting... discovered the hero was lacking in power.
Moved to the EVO..

so 5-6 yrs of straight htc phones... and they have been great. Evo is still kicking.

but looks like i am moving on to the NOTE2. trying a Sammy.. i sure hope they dont disappoint.

I didn't go full candybar touchscreen until the EVO and I was mighty hesitant about it until the phone was released. Swype convinced me to stick it out. Before that, it was Samsung i500 pda phone (how funny is that...my last samsung phone that was my dedicated phone was a samsung with a stylus and I am coming back full circle), htc mogul, htc touch pro.

Now that it's been over 2 years on full touch and android, can't see myself going back to physical Qwerty for my phone. I'll always want a full physical Qwerty for my work stuff, but not for my phone.

My complete history
Samsung SPH i500, PPC 6700, PPC 6800 (HTC Mogul), HTC Touch, Treo 600, 650, 755p,
Blackberry Pearl, Curve, Tour, HTC Hero, Evo, Evo 3D, Motorola Photon, Samsung Epic 4G Touch, Galaxy Note 2 (10/25) :D

Somewhere in that lineup was the original iPhone, and i4S. The i500 opened my eyes that I'd never want to go back to a regular basic flip phone. Something that just answers calls.

As you can probably tell from these phones, some of us have been on all of the same forums together for yearssssssss.

Now, my brain is officially tired from having to reach back and remember all these phones.

Most frustrating part with the i500 was not being able to reply to texts. It was still such a great phone at the time.

Yep the Evo started me on this android addiction for sure. I shoved so many apps on that phone I got 'low memory' message in 5 months. I remember liking HTC's birthday reminder when the person called, that was cool to me! Haha
I remember using my one year upgrade (way back in the day) to exchange my pink flip phone for that same pink flip phone with a camera!! My word I've come a looonng way!!!

Exactly. 14 yrs with Sprint & I've never had a problem with text on any phone.

That's weird because I remember downloading this app:
i500 Headquarters. Skins for Samsung SPH-i500 SmartPhone

But then it didn't work that well. And I remember there not being a "reply" button whenever receiving texts. That phone was actually SO awesome, but when the Mogul came out it just seemed like it'd be so much better. I guess that's a good sign how much I'll love the Note 2.

I did the same thing with the epic 4g touch. Though by the time my allotted app memory was full, i had well over 700 apps installed. I did this for a reason though, as i was testing to see if i could get it to lag. Never skipped a beat. If only i wasn't a tech geek, i would still have it. But now I'm on the sgs3 and soon the note 2. The nexus 1 started by addiction though, missed the track ball until the gs3 launched.
