Replacement Question

Hello everyone... Long time reader first time poster.
Anyway I just bought my Eris 25 days ago from Best Buy. They sold me a shitty Zagg screen proctector and I ripped it off after one day of having it on. I hated the way it felt. So I figured I will go naked... It's glass why not. Well yesterday I pulled the phone out of my pocket and there it was staring back at me... A tiny scratch. So I was thinking maybe i can return it and get a new one. Anyone had a return experience similar to this that went well?

If I can return it is there anyway to save the way my contacts are set up?

Well I did get best buys black tie protection. I don't know if it will cover that either. I was just hoping the 30 day return applied for anything.

With black tie they try to repair it first. You have to have four repair attempts before they replace the item. Their black tie plan is not meant to be a replacement plan, but instead is a guaranteed repair plan should something stop functioning. It does not cover cosmetic issues.

So If I smash my phone with a hammer I can get a new one is what you are saying?

They sold you a perfectly good product and you couldn't take care of it for 25 days. In my mind they would be under no obligation to take your phone back.

I talked to best buy... said no replacement. I can live with it... Well anyone got a good suggestion for a good screen protector that is not zagg? Those zagg protectors feel like you put a fly strip over the front of your phone they are really sticky and rubbery.

The only one I have found that I like (and I have tried I think 5 different ones now) is Boxwave's ClearTouch Crystal. I think its $12.95 from Amazon. Goes on without bubbles and very little effort. It doesnt seem to pick up marks and scuffs like the other ones I have used.

You sound like a typical generation X customer. You should be ashamed of yourself. People like you piss me off, you take advantage of everyone and never blame yourself for your own stupid mistakes. You didn't like the feel of the protector, ok fine then get another one. But no like a little brat you rip it off and complain when the screen gets scratched. People like you disgust me.

Ok I made a mistake... I just asked if anyone has tried. Do you realize it costs 5 bucks or less to make this phone in china. I asked if anyone thought this was a good idea. I didn't ask if it was morally wrong. I pay for insurance and wanted to know if anyone knew if it was covered. Do you have car insurance? I do, if I get a crack in my windshield they pay to have it replaced. I know they don't replace the whole car but I don't think they can just replace the screen with a phone.

I am not a generation Xer you obviously are from the "I can't read and cant understand what someone is getting at" generation. I am really regreting registering for this forum Didn't know I was gonna get flamed from the get go. When I ask for stupid comments I will let you know. Some people actually offered a good feedback and a solution. Get your head out of your ass you hate monger.

Is there a "No Thanks" button?

Wow, that's pretty harsh. Whether I agree or not, there has to be a more positive way to deliver a message.

Do you realize it costs 5 bucks or less to make this phone in china.

The processor and touch screen alone cost a lot more than $5 to produce. Don't be fooled into thinking this is some cheap cobbled together phone. Its a quality product that's highly subsidized by Verizon.

The touch screen probably costs somewhere between $15-$20 to manufacture.

It costs $187 total to build a Moto Droid, so if you figure the lack of keyboard, the lesser sd card and the lesser processor, theres probably at least $120 in parts and labor in the Eris.

I would have to agree that some of the comments on here were pretty harsh. It was a simple question, no need to tell everyone what type of person disgusts you, that's for you to know and for us not to care.

As far as the windshield analogy, I got a crack in my windshield, called Nissan to see if it was covered under warranty (when I knew it most likely wasn't)...they said no, stated the reason why and we all moved on. Simple Question = Simple Answer.

As for the cost of building the phone... well thats pretty nice to know that I have a good phone. I just assume everything that fits in your had and is electronic is cheap sweat shop made junk from china. Have you guys ever ordered something from the online Apple Store? When you track your package it literally leaves from a UPS in China... no joke.

I've actually returned a phone(Samsung Alias 2) shortly after buying it because
if some of you don't know

it's the phone that opens as a flip and also as a qwerty
well it's gimmick was that which ever way you wanted to open it
the letters, numbers and symbols would rotate depending on the orientation
on the hard keyboard and you could actually see it doing it...

it was cool but i realize technically that was the only reason i brought it....and then four hours later...i realized the phone was lame...obviously i get excited about the littlest things

well before i returned it, i had dropped it and it had a scratch on the side...Just don't make it obvious about the scratch...

do like i did

make sure all the materials are in the box like they were when you first opened it
and then hand them the box

most of the time they do a quick check and they'll refund it
