Hi!
Did you see this?

Unlock Bootloader - Huawei Device Co., Ltd..

Fill in form, get authorized code to unlock bootloader on any Huawei Android phone, at least Ideos x5 u8800

To get to the form just register at huawei.com and paste in the mentioned url:

Unlock Bootloader - Huawei Device Co., Ltd..

Now, the form does not work totally, impossible, for me at least, to choose type and model.

Emailed them about this on mobile-at-huawei.com, and supplied all info in same email. Lets see what happens. Mybe nothing, maybe not...:)

Cheers,

Paal
PS: Hope I post this according to rules etc, havent posted anything before, havent got a clue. If wrong, feel free to correct.

Hi Guys, I still think this is a scam.
There is only 1 choice of phone (Smartphone).
There are only 4 Models to choose from C8811, C8812, C8825D & U8825D. (These phones are not available in Huawei Model List).
The Hash code *#*#1357946#*#* is not recognized by either of my Huawei Ideos Smartphones U8150D or U8800 X5.

When you get an unlock code it contains SIM Network Unlock PIN xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (16) digits.
SAP NET (16) digits.
Block Unlock (16) digits.
PIN Service 916) digits.
I've been through this with Virgin Mobile AU. to unlock a phone I purchased on Ebay.
So I still think this is a scam. Neil.

I found this:
Root

Rooting a device is a method to gain full access to the operating system. With root you can do all the administrative stuff, write to locations normally restricted to the system and customize your device deeper.

Root enhances your privileges and you are able to change almost anything inside of your rom.

The rooting, however, affects ONLY your operating system (Android)

Unlocked Bootloader

In most devices, the Bootloader is the instance that calls the operating system (Android) and manages direct access to the device's partitions. Having an unlocked bootloader enables you to flash custom roms, custom kernels, recoveries and so on.

Bootloader and Rooting Teamplay

Often it is the case, and so, too in our devices, that a locked bootloader also locks write access to several partitions like the system partition. This is the reason why rooting is not able without unlocked bootloader. Rooting needs write access to the system partition (for storing the superuser binary and the superuser app)
Without unlocked bootloader, only a temporary half-root can be achieved.

There are also warnings that if you want to Unlock the Bootloader - you must agree to negate your phone warranty with your manufacturer before they will release it to you.
An interesting poser. Neil.
