Today my one-week-new Note 10.1 has stopped responding. I'd had it on charge overnight last night, was using it this morning off charge and it was working fine. Came back to see it dark on the table, figured the screensaver had kicked in. When I tried to turn it back on, there was no response. Thinking that just *possibly* I had not properly plugged it in to recharge overnight, I plugged it back in and tried to turn it back on; I saw the blue battery image circulating as if it were recharging. Then the image swapped between that and another image of a battery superimposed with a yellow triangle containing a ! and with what looked like a temperature indicator below it. I unplugged the charger again, thinking I might be overheating it (although it did not feel remotely warm), and since then I've gotten no response at all from it. Nothing when I try to power on (either on or off charge), and nothing when I hold the power/restart button in for 10+ seconds (either on or off charge).
Enlightenment, anyone?
(And thanks to people who helped me with new-owner questions last week! I hope your replies don't turn out to be wasted...)
Edit to add:
I visited this thread and tried the method described there (hold power button in for 30 seconds while also touching screen) both off- and on-charge and there was no response.
Further edit:
I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2 phone which has a USB end near the plug on its charger. I decided to remove the USB connector from the working S2 charger and try inserting the USB end of the Note's charger into it, avoiding the plug part in case that's broken. Unfortunately, no new data.
(1) plugged USB end into S2 charger and connected: no response
(2) waited to see if any response: no response
(3) pressed and held power button for 10 secs: no response
(4) pressed and held power button for 30 secs while touching screen: no response
ANOTHER edit:
I tried to follow the directions for a hard reset, but step 2 says to hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons simultaneously until the logo appears, at which time you release the Power button in step 3. Even after holding them simultaneously for 2 minutes, no logo appears, nothing happens, so I can't go on to step 3. I'm placing a service request with Samsung; since we haven't even had this thing one week, I'm hoping it's still under warranty (it had better be!).
