How is the battery? And tips to make battery life better

Upvote 0
Just as an fyi I went into a sprint store to have them put gingerbread back on my phone and I can go a full two days with my battery now.... ICS is too big for the epic thats why its draining the battery so much. I unplugged my phone at 5 am this morning and it had only dropped 15 percent in 8 hours. pretty good if you ask me. On ICS i could only go about 12 hours and it was dead.

I've read that some Sprint stores won't roll it back to GB or they don't have the ability. Did you call them first or go to a corporate store?

I don't think ICS is too big for the E4GT. Is that what they told you at Sprint? With a dual core 1.2 GHz EXYNOS processor and 16GB of internal mem, it can handle ICS just fine. Many custom roms prove this. Sprint just messed up the ICS update with their Touch Wiz crap and won't admit it.

It was the sprint tech guy that said ICS was too big for the epic and that's some of the reasons why the battery is so bad. Just call a coporiate store and make sure that they will take it back to GB. If it's a third party sprint store they won't. I just went 17 hours and it only took 45 percent of my battery. Before then I couldn't go 12 hours on a full charge...

From my experiences w/ the folks @ the Sprint Store, they don't know one bit more than I do about this phone - probably less. On another thread someone suggested I try "Battery Doctor" and it has saved my sanity since the ICS fiasco, so I suggest going over to Google Play & download it for free.

After ICS I was getting 4-8 hrs out of my phone. Read a bunch of suggestions here and I'm getting over 24hrs out of my phone with minimal use with a stock battery thats over a year old. There's a ton of suggestions here about what to do all of which I think is becoming overwhelming but here's mine anyways ;-) : Cleared cache, Factory reset, I didn't re install a ton of apps like I had before. I turned off the phone, recharged it and leaving it plugged in took out the battery (then unplugged it ) let it sit for 10 min, turned off (or minimized) refresh rates for AP news, email, weather etc., turned off (or minimized) location setting for GPS. In settings: developer options I set Limit Background Proccesses to 4 at most. Update apps only when plugged in. I may have forgotten a few things but I have my old (great) phone back. Slowly re adding apps to see if any kill batt life but none so far. Have auto brightness turned off and set at 75%, power saving mode at 30%, dont have any battery apps to monitor juice usage and still getting killer battery life. I think the real kicker was the factory reset.

If you have been using your phone for more than one year, best solution is to get a new battery. They're about nine dollars on amazon. Or you could toggle off all data connections when you aren't actively using the phone. This boosts battery time by more than 2 to 3 hours. There's a widget you can put on your home screen that you can simply tap on to turn off data. Heres the link. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.enspirit.epic.data.toggle&hl=en
