Has anyone successfully loaded flash on their ICS Bionic? If so, how did you do it?

Loaded just fine. While Adobe no longer offers it for new downloads, if you already have it, it will still be in your 'All' apps in the Play Store.

How long will Flash work for is anyone's guess. Adobe is no longer supporting it for mobile platforms so sooner or later we are all going to have to get used to not having it.

That depends on how bad one needs it and how one is determined to keep it. :D

As a consumer, if we curb our appettite for buying the latest and greatest and be happy with what we have, and also block our phones from ugrading, it should be quite a while before flash is gone. :D

Not really. You're assuming web sites wont take mobile sites and apps to HTML5 or Adobe Air. With Adobe no longer supporting Flash, developers won't stick with it.

I hate mobile versions of sites. Adobe is quitting flash for not only android, but the linux platform as well.

So far adobe is supporting Mac and Windows. If they were going to get rid of flash, I say do it right and not support any platform as far as web browing is concerned.

I bought into android exclusively for flash. I don't use it for any apps that I know of. I need it for the web. I've already disabled flash as an experiment and it severely crippled my web browsing experience in particular to websites I frequent.

I didn't buy a high end phone to go to a mobile based website.

Some may be quick to get rid of flash, but some are not and are power users.

What's the average life of a phone? 3 years? So, I got 3 to 5 years to keep flash so long as I don't take upgrades.

I think people are fanning the flames of false hope in relying on html5.

As far as the bionic goes, it's as good as it's going to get. How many ways are there to tweak an os?

To the average user, if you're a heavy user and or a blogger, mark my words, you will at somepoint wished you had kept flash.

Then again, not many rely their phone as the only internet connection like myself.

In some ways, I think the mobile os is starting to go backwards and linux has been knocked down a peg or two when it's coming to web browsing.

I'm not upgrading my os or purchasing phones that do not support flash.

I may come off like a fanatical @ss, but atleast I know exactly what I want and expect out of my device. :)

Well, it's not just Linux and Android, Adobe is ending Flash support for ALL mobile devices.

I'm not fanning the flames of false hope for HTML5, I merely say it because that's one of Adobe's reasons/excuses.
Flash to Focus on PC Browsing and Mobile Apps; Adobe to More Aggressively Contribute to HTML5 (Adobe Featured Blogs)

Honestly, I think any web site that sees heavy usage from a mobile browser, whether it be a regular or moble site, will likely not have Flash content before too long as there won't be any point to it.

I've been hearing that for years. the fact of the matter is there is a lot of stuff that's Flash. Not just videos. If I have to explain that, then you simply don't use the web as much as I do.

Well, I hope I didn't come of as being abrasive towards you personaly...

Most things I do in life is odd ball anyways. Most people probably don't care cuz they have a home computer and a land line connection. I have always been a fanatic of portabilty and functionality, which is why I embraced the webtop.

I understand adobe is ending it for all mobile platforms. But as far as I know they are still supporting Home computers running Mac and Windows, they kicked linux home computers to the curb.

So you see, with windows and mac still being supported, that doesn't add a whole lot of grease to the wheels of html5.

Though I hate windows, I would buy a windows phone down the road if it ran the full os and not a mobile os. Of course that would be after the death of my Bionics.

I had a perfectly good samsung blackjack, that I would still have today had skyfire not kicked windows mobile to the curb... One day I couldn't blog, leave comments or anything on my favorite blog site, that was the day the ipads came out and skyfire abruptly ended it's support. Had they not ended support, I would have never owned an android. Yeah, I like android, but I feel as though I'm once again getting the shaft in the mobile world.

Except it hasn't been years since Adobe has ended Flash support for mobile devices, it was just announced about a year ago and Flash wasn't pulled from the Play Store as an app someone new could get until this past August. I mean, this isn't just a rumor.

Android's Flash Player is dead - live with it | ZDNet

I'm not saying Flash is going to go away, even Adobe said they aren't ending it for the PC and are still making new versions. I'm just saying a lot of web sites, whether they be regular sites or mobile versions of sites, that see a large portion of their traffic coming from mobile devices won't just stick with Flash thus ensuring people on mobile devices can't access their site because that would make no sense.

I know what you're saying, and yes, for those who like Flash and go to Flash sites on mobile devices, it is not going to be easy for a while as web sites use newer versions of Flash which will likely have compatibility problems that will only get worse with an older Flash player for the Android.

But with more and more people using mobile devices, phones and tablets, to access the web, web site developers will adapt to something else, and likely will before to long. They don't really much choice.

A tad off topic here. What really bakes my @ss? Is how websites can't leave thing alone that worked great to begin with. I like to blog on wordpress for example, but like other blog sites I was a part of, they have to keep screwing with the format making it harder to do anything with mobile browsing wise. It's like they need these eye candy effects that throw of the best of the mobile browsers!

Well, hopefully you're right. Hopefully html5 will quickly take root, I'm just not jumping ship till it does. :)

I just boughtthe asus infinity today....i am a web developer...is there a link for a flash that will work for me?
If you have previously gotten Flash from the Play store it should still be in your My Apps section. If you never gotten it before, you will have to find a trusted source that has the apk for it, but it will be a use at your own risk sort of thing as Adobe has removed the Flash player from all all the app marketplaces.
